Good evening... Its my first time in this forum and I'm planning to write an exam as RN or RPN.

if i'll be granted to write an exam, do i need to apply for a Temporary resident visa or CNO will grant me a visa...

Thank you, still confused of the process

Hello po. Gusto ko lang makapag bigay sa inyo ng onting info regarding this matter.RN din po ako from the Philippines. Applied for a PR last 2011, granted March 2012. Vancouver, BC po ako nag-land.

Kung nasa Pinas pa po kayo, which I think you still are judging from your inquiry, you need to be assessed by the Provincial Board of Nursing/College of Nursing nung province kung saan nyo gustong magpractice as nurse. If ever po payagan kayong mag write na agad ng exam, and if ever po na bigyan kayo ng temporary visa, the problem there is kung paano kayo makakapag stay dun ng tuloy tuloy. Granting you pass the exam and become an RN, one has to be a permanent resident in order to practice as a nurse doon. As of late, very unlikely po ang ospital sa kahit saang part ng Canada ang willing magsponsor ng internationally educated nurse to work sa kanila, kahit working visa pa. At ang masaklap po nito, tinanggal na nila ang Registered Nurses sa needed professionals nila this year. So medyo mahirap. Though there is still no harm in trying. :)

I suggest po that you email the province/college of nursing kung saan nyo gusto to shed some more light in the matter. Magrereply naman sila.

Hope this helps. GOD BLESS! :)

Thanks pickednotes for the reply... very informative.

What visa have u applied? have u applied for the visa first? or nag pa assess ka via CNO muna?

Permanent Resident po. Back in 2011, maluwag pa sila and available pa ang RN sa needed skilled workers sa Canada. Recently, it is quite the opposite.

I got the visa first, and then magpapa assess pa lang for the RN verification and evaluation. Medyo expensive rin kasi ang fees, abutin kang $500-$600 just to be told na mag aaral ka uli. Saklap no?

As of late, I am strongly considering na hindi na ako magpa assess as nurse sa canada. I actually have a green card application sa U.S. Though mabagal, pero umaandar naman. PD na lang inaantay ko. Around 4-5 years pa. Pero dumating tong si Canada, so might as well suck it up. Sayang naman. Antayin ko na lang sa Canada. I was told rin by the legal department ng NY hospital na once maging Canadian citizen ako, inform ko sila at tatransfer nila ako agad sa U.S. to work under a working visa. So priority ko ang U.S. kasi nagastusan na ako ng employer ko doon, RN na ako sa NY at higit sa lahaT, NO MORE BRIDGING COURSE IN THE U.S. for me. ;D

thank again pickednotes... youre right RN is not listed anymore for FSW. Too bad. Got my family in Ontario, Live in caregiver nalang ako....

That's actually one of the best routes possible of going to Canada. Hanap ka ng employer which will hire you as a live-in caregiver. From there, madali na lang maging PR as long as you meet residency requirements. Mas priority kasi ng Canadian government ang mga taong andun na.

Best of luck!

May paper for verification sa.

God bless

DON'T GET UPSET BUT I DON'T KNOW WHY WHENEVER RNs FROM THE PHIL POST ON THIS FORUM, EVEN IN ENGLISH, THE OTHER ONES COMMENTING WILL START IN TAGALOG AND THE REST FOLLOW THUS......WHY?

THIS IS AN INFORMATIVE FORUM AND YOUR IDEAS CAN HELP OTHERS....AND NOT EVERYBODY HERE UNDERSTANDS TAGALOG POSTS......CAN WE MAINTAIN ENGLISH OR BETTERSTILL FRENCH SINCE THEY ARE CANADA'S TWO OFFICIAL LANGUAGES? AND LANGUAGES ALMOST GLOBALLY UNDERSTOOD?

I AM RN TOO AND WAS VERY INTERESTED IN THE RESPONSES PEOPLE WOULD GIVE TO YOUR POST, BUT I AM DECEIVED.

LET'S BE GLOBAL PLEASE!!!

HAPPY SUNDAY.

Albert, in case you post anything in a public forum please think of public. I was interested to read your post but as mentioned by Stylove, "Got deceived". Your post could have been useful to many but it has only turned out to be a " Tagalog community post".

I hope we would try (?) to compose our messages in English. The forum in general is in English. It would be more considerate of others since we have different nationalities here who might be interested in your response. It doesn't have to be too exclusive. :) Anyway, one of Canada's official language is English.
