Illegitimate child born outside Canada to married Canadian man

Hello,

I have a very specific question. Please no negative comments if you don’t have any suggestion. I had relationship with a Canadian citizen who is already married. I am pregnant with baby now. Will baby be eligible to get Canadian birth certificate if born outside Canada? Father is willing to sign that he is a biological father.

Thanks

:eek::oops::confused:

Your child can't sponsor you until it's 18 and even then it's not a guarantee, if that's why you're asking.
Your point is logical and well understood. Can there be any grounds I myself arrange immigration based on baby ctizenship or dad can do it though he is not married to me. Thanks

Not really. You'd have to marry the father, or wait 18 years for the child to sponsor you.

The child must also meet the 3 years financial requirements for 2 people before they are eligible to sponsor as well. Hard to do at 18 years old.

There are no grounds for immediate sponsorship for you available. Your only option would be trying to qualify to immigrate on your own such as through immigration streams like Express Entry. If you have skilled work experiences and a university degree with high language skills, you would be qualified to apply for PR on your own.

Are you certain in this situation baby will get birth certificate. Thank you!
No. The baby will get a birth certificate from wherever they are born, not necessarily Canada (unless you give birth in Canada).

A child of a Canadian is entitled to Canadian citizenship on application and registration, but you have to do paperwork for it.

Thanks for reply. Yes you are right birth certificate will be from the country where baby will born. Are you sure baby will get Canadian citizenship certificate and/or passport after completing paperwork with father's consent? Thank you!

The only way to formally find out is to apply for proof of citizenship.

Baby will get birth certificate from wherever he's born. Canada do not give birth certificate to anyone born outside of Canada.

You need to gather paperwork to proof that baby is a descent of a Canadian citizen and is entitle to citizenship.
You need to apply for proof of citizenship after the baby is born.

When the child is born, you'll need to apply for the birth certificate. The certificate must show the baby's parents. If the baby is born outide of Canada you and the baby's father will need to apply for the Certificate of Canadian Citizenship and Canadian Passport (if the baby needs to travel to Canada). This can be done at the Consular Section of the Embassy of Canada abroad. DNA test results are not in the list of mandatory documents, but might be required. Of course it is nice for the baby to have Canadian citizenship, but there are several things for you to consider: 1) your baby's citizenship does not give you any benefits in regards to living in Canada; 2) Canada will treat the baby as Canadian citizen and the baby's father will have the same rights as you have (so you might find yourself in the situation when the baby will have to live with the father for certain periods of time (if the father decides that he wants the baby to live with him).
