Hi,
I need help. I want to apply for PR through Buffalo. I came into the US on a visa that is now expired. Can I still apply for Canadian PR? Do I send a photocopy of my expired visa .... will Canada check my status in the US?
What about FBI clearance ......... can I get this done?
I am tired of being illegal in the US but I have no economic future in my country ... help!

omoge,

You can apply for PR from the US if "you have been lawfully admitted into the United States for a period of at least one year and you are submitting your application at the Canadian visa office in Buffalo." if not, you may not be able to apply through Buffalo. Other than that, take the self assessment test; if you have enough points, go ahead and apply.

Canada doesn't check your status in the US. However, they require that 1yr legal admission. Send a photocopy of whatever part of your passport they asked you for.

FBI clearance: go ahead and get it done. As long as you do not have a criminal record, it will come back clean. No dey fear!

Good thing you are tired of being illegal in the US (or any other country for that matter) 'cos it certainly isn't worth it. Time to move on...

Yes you can.
You need to get the CSQ through the provincial part : http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/en/immigrate-settle/permanent-workers/index.html
After you get the CSQ for each family member, you can start the federal part: www.cic.gc.ca

Hi,

I was out of status in the US for 6 years. My family (parents and sibs) later immigrated to Canada as PRs. I have since gotten Canadian citizenship and it has now been 7 years since I left. I want to know if i can cross the border at all and if I am eligible to apply for jobs and schools. Thanks.
