IFHP Health Plan Coverage

Hi Everyone,

just wanted to let everyone know if you’re a refugee claimant you’re covered for dental cleaning and check up and/or Eye exam at any clinic as long as they accept IFHP. Please call the clinic beforehand to confirm if they accept IFHPor Medave BlueCross

Take an advantage of this benefit while you wait for a response because most people aren’t covered under OHIP or other provincial plans.

as far as I know, it is emergency dental care as they told me cleaning is not included however tooth excursion and other surgeries are covered like filling removing tooth, etc.

Yes it is only for emergency dental. Many asylum seekers have not had access to dental care for long periods of time or never so many have many dental issues that may be causing pain.

If you guys live in ontario and are on social assistance, there is a very good coverage for dental through ontario works, just call your social worker.

It's not guaranteed except for children who are enrolled in healthy smiles. There is a limited amount of money so children are prioritized. It is also usually basic dental coverage so I wouldn't consider it great but better than nothing if you get accepted and find a dentist willing to see you.
