Hello,

I want to know if you have a canadian child with your spouse does it make the process faster as you don't have to prove that your relationship is genuine or not due to the child.

You still have to prove the relationship is genuine. People with Canadian children are still sometimes refused. Having a child together it's an automatic approval ticket.

He meant "It is not an automatic approval".
Also the process is not any faster. U still have to wait in line and will be processed at the same speed all the other applicants are.

I hope u r not having a child just to get PR faster.

As a child protection worker, having a child does NOT prove your relationship is genuine, and CIC knows this.

You'll be looked at with as much scrutiny as any childless couple.

I'm still waiting for my AOR but I was planning to bring my Canadian daughter that is 1 years old to Canada this August for couple months. Do I have to update VO about this? My wife will still be waiting for her sponsorship approval.

That reminded me something when I was planning to apply for sponsorship.

I applied for sponsorship later than I wanted because I wanted to get all paper work in order. Once you have a Canadian child overseas you need to apply for proof of Canadian citizenship and Canadian passport after receiving proof of Canadian citizenship.

Proof of Canadian citizenship can take months. Mines was 3 months my friend got his 9 months later.

Of course you can apply before getting all these documents but than I think you have to update the VO on your Canadian child status when you get all these documents. So I wanted to avoid all those paperwork mess and keep it simple.

May I ask for your opinion when the mother is the sponsor and the baby is born in Canada?
So what would be the interpretation in this case?
Mother has always the final saying whether to keep a baby or not, no one can force her to have a baby. And honestly putting herself in a position to raise a child alone for unknown period of time, I can't imagine could be done for any other reason than love.

naveedali, I hope you don't mind I'm asking a question in your thread here.

I think it would be harder to prove relationship is genuine if mother is the sponsor because sometimes the man would trick the woman into thinking he loves her and wants a family. Its far easier for a man to abandon a child than a woman. I think there are way more bad men who would impregnate an unsuspecting sponsor than bad women willing to go thru pregnancy and birthing to dupe the sponsor.

Ive read many many cases of male applicants leaving the sponsor, but not many cases of pregnant applicants doing the same. In fact, I think I know of at least 5 people on this forum (all were female), who had the husband dump them after they gave birth.

I don't think it makes the process any faster for simple cases but it does alleviate a lot of red flags which would otherwise make the process slower.

I would not say that it has positively impacted my application thus far along in the process. I am still in the early stages though.
