Dear everyone,

I am living in Montreal. I submitted my application in July, 2011. And got the first notice of the citizenship test in Dec. 2012, but skipped due to a business trip. And haven't got any response since then.

Does anybody knows how long it will take to get the rescheduled appointment in Montreal usually. Any help would be really appreciated.

Thank you

I live in Fort mcmurray, AB and I missed my date back in April 2012 and have been waiting since then. It also depend on the location your application is being processed.

Finally after 1 year, i just called them and they told me that 3 days a go they have mailed me a letter to appear for test.

Yes 1 YEAR!!! i know its long

I have heard the same from other people. Immigration expects you to put your citizenship first. If you have to postpone the test or oath, that doesn't mean you get scheduled for the next date in your area but rather that you will be kept waiting for months or a year until they feel like scheduling you again. That's just the way it is.

My friend's wife missed her first test in November 2012. she received another letter sometime in December to sit for the test in January 2013.

Exactly. The citizenship thing is so important that I would have cancelled almost anything instead of the exam, to be able to appear in the exam. I was actually becoming sick when I wrote the exam, but I thought that no matter what, I will go to the test. It would not matter if I would have to go through a thousand tissues to blow my nose, have a fever of 40C or cough my lungs out: I would go to the exam!!!

Luckily I got sick only after I had done the exam...

I missed a soccer game in the European Championships of 2008 to take my exam. I think it was the semi-finals too. Anyway, was not a big deal :)

Haha, well there you had a choice ;) I still think that you made the right one.

Many thanks for your reply. I wish I could have attent the text. But they give me a very short notice (less than 10 days) and I have everything (registration, tickets and hotel) booked. Nothing to do but wait!

It is very common to get a short notice like 10 to 14 days. Re-scheduling does not seem to mean that you would get a longer notice for the next one. They will contact you at some point, you don't know when and they will invite you again with the same short notice. Hopefully you will be able to make it then.
