If I go the Inland Route can I leave the country??

Hi All-
First off this is an awesome forum! So glad I found it! Ok, this is my situation- I’m about to get married later in the year to my Canadian born fiancé. She really wants me to stay after the wedding (and so do I ) however, I'm concerned that if I do stay and do the inland application I won't be able to leave the country for emergencies or just regular family trips. Is this true? Am I better off doing the outland process and going home to the Caribbean every few months or so? Please Advice.

From what I've just learned from the helpful people here, it's not advisable to leave the country if you are doing an Inland application.

Hmm...Ok...this is what I'm noticing as well. So what if I get my visitors record and have that extended? Will it still be unadvisable?

Basically if you leave, there is no guarantee you'll be able to reenter canada. If you are unable to reenter then your application is void.
Its up to you if you want to risk it. A visitors record doesnt guarantee you anything.

If you want to be able to leave, why don't you apply outland? You can still be in Canada.

Ok...I get it. I will not take the risk. I want to be with my wife more than anything. Currently we're apart and its killing us both. We will do the inland and I won't leave the country until it is all approved. I read just now that once the 1st stage is approved and she is ok'ed to be sponsor I can be granted a work permit, is this true?

That is true yes, however first stage approval takes 9/10 months.
Where are you from?
Like I said, you can apply outland, from within Canada, and depending on which VO you would use, it can be much faster than inland. If you want to be able to leave if necessary then choose outland.
All inland vs outland means, is the location of the VO, not where you are.

Im from St. Maarten. My VO is in Trinidad. The other thing is if I apply Outland and still stay in Canada would'nt it look strange to the Border ppl if im leaving once every 4 or 5 months and returning? They will know im living there....Confused :-\ ???

Hmmm at the Port of Spain VO, its currently taking 14 months.
It might look strange coming and going. Sorry to be ignorant but are you visa exempt for canada? Can you visit without a visa?
Its really up to you. Inland, I wouldnt risk leaving, outland you could leave but even then there is no guarantee you'd be allowed back in. Its really up to you.

Outland could take up to 16 months
Inland could be 19/20 months..... the choice is yours....

I have a EU passport...so no Visa required to enter Canada.

I applied inland. Got AIP 2 months ago. Still waiting on 2nd stage. I have to go back home in December. I have a valid TRV, and I don't see any reason as to why I would be refused to enter. I am taking the risk! Some things are just a whole lot more important than freakin immigration!!

Entry to Canada is a privilege, not a right of anyone except permanent residents and citizens. So, yes, you have a TRV, but that doesn't mean anyone is obliged to admit you to the country. You don't have to see the reason you may be refused entry, that's at the discretion of the border officer, your perception has little to do with it.
