Hello,
I am Canadian and my new husband is a Jamaican citizen still living in Jamaica. (We married in Jamaica.) Our plan is for him to immigrate to Canada. We are trying to figure out the fastest way to obtain permanent residency for him. I believe that if we are able to get temporary residency for him to visit, we can then apply for PR and he will be able to remain in Canada until the application is processed. Does anyone know if this is accurate? Also, if I get pregnant before his PR is approved, will he be permitted to stay? Would this kick in as a parent Visa at that point? Is there such a thing as 'family hardship' that we can claim to be able to stay together in Canada? Please respond if you have any knowledge or comments. Thank you in advance for your time.
