Dear All,

If I get a PR, is it possible for my spouse come to Canada on Dependent Visa ?

I work for a MNC which has branches across 50 countries. I am planning to get PR and come to Canada through my organization. In this case, can my spouse get Dependent Visa ? so that I can apply inland sponsorship once she comes to Canada.

If I come on a work permit, Dependent Visa can be raised but not sure if I come on a PR. Please help if you have any information on this.

Thanks in advance.

No - your spouse does not qualify for a dependent visa. Dependent visas are only available to spouses of foreign workers and international students.

Your spouse needs to apply for a regular visitor visa. If the visa is approved, your spouse can come here and you can sponor them inland.

Note that it is often quite difficult to get a visitor visa approved if your spouse is a PR since CIC knows the person likely has plans to remain in Canada long term. Also, as a PR, you must be living in CAnada to sponsor your spouse for PR. Very short trips outside of Canada are OK - anything longer and you risk having the application canceled. It is best to include your spouse as accompanying in your PR application so that you both get PR visas at the same time. Otherwise it's quite possible you will be separated for a year.

in that case, you once said in one of the forums that it takes long time to complete the process of sponsorship, so can this visitor visa be extended ?

Yes - visitor visas can be extended. But your bigger issue is that there's a very good chance the visitor visa won't be approved to begin with and inland sponsorship won't be possible. This means you'll need to be living in Canada while your spouse lives in your home country during the sponsorship process - and you'll need to be separated during this time.

one last doubt Scylla, in case if my Spouse's Visitor Visa got rejected, does it impact her sponsorship application ?

Your best option is to just include your spouse as accompanying so that she becomes a PR at the same time as you.
