Dear Forum readers : I need help to understand if you are aware of any candidate across the country who with less than 1095 days minimum required days has been recently approved for Citizenship.

Myself and family have our PR's since Aug'2006. While my family & kids stayed here, I worked few months in USA in the last 4 years. preceding my application for citizenship in Feb'12 thru immigration attorney. Then RQ was'nt that common or rather CIC was lenient with this requirements.

Only upon receiving my first ATIP, I was shocked either due to attorney's oversight or overconfidence, my application was indeed submitted with 59 days short of 1095 days minimum required. Had I known this, I could have waited for 6 or more months after 1095 days to apply but now I'm already in this terrible situation.

Waiting since Mar'2014 after passing the test, I'm NOT sure what to expect either my case would be approved or get rejected, assigned to Citizenship judge. If so, estimated time frame. I have documents to prove that my family was here all along, credit cards transactions & paid taxes.

BTW : My application is at St. Claire, Toronto, ON

Any thoughts or sharing of experiences on this would be highly appreciated.

My friend was short of 95 days and was given RQ on the day of his test. He didn't know he was and he filled up the documentation and was given oath in 3 months. This was in Vancouver and in 2010. Things have changed since then but I feel since you have been living here and have family here as well they would give you oath letter with some delay.

All the best!

As you know, the CIC is no longer lenient with these things. The political mood is very much against you. It is my personal opinion that you will wait a long time to see a Citizenship Judge (an interview is a must given your shortfall in days), and the judge will reject your application. You will then have to start from scratch again, after waiting for many years to get here.

I think you should withdraw your application. Tell the CIC the reason for your withdrawal (lawyer did not counsel you properly). And then re-apply. The wait times for citizenship are now very short. Some people get their citizenship in as little as 8 months. And it is only going to get shorter now that CIC officials can approve applications.

Also, if you withdraw and re-apply now, you will not have to deal with the new bill and its potential implications.

I don't think he should withdraw his application. I applied exactly on the day I clocked 1095days and I have no issue. I understand you're short of few days, since you have strong family ties in Canada they will approve you. During the interview the interviewer was happy when she notice I have my own house and planing to sponsor my husband.

I partially agree with Newbie2014. I suggest you wait until December 2014 for oath letter. If you don't receive oath letter or you are advised to see citizenship judge, withdraw your application and file a new application in January 2015

My husband got the RQ after test due to less 1095 days in 2012. We just got his first ATIP and it shows it has been approved by CJ on June 2014 and Granted on July 2014. The file is now in Scarborough. We are hope to have his oath soon.

Where is your local office? I bet it must not be St Claire.
