can anyone suggest a good source for IELTS samples

Look at IELTS main site (http://www.ielts.org) for sample tests. If you are serious about getting a good grade Your best best is to purchase the Cambridge Learning series http://www.cambridge.org/catalogue/catalogue.asp?isbn=9780521739191 which comes directly from the exam's creators.

If it proves costly try at the local British council - http://library.britishcouncil.org.in/SimpleCatSearch.asp and search for "IELTS"

I practiced with the IELTS 6 series of books + audio CD's and got a 8 band.

I have got my IELTS Overall Band score of 5.5- Writing -6, reading -4.5, listening - 5, speaking - 6 ... What is the total point for this ?

I have got 60 points without the test score added... Am i eligible or do i have to retake the test..

It might very to some extent based on the country where you take the test as the fee is converted into local currency, but, if I am not mistaken, it is around 180 US Dollar.
