Dear Friends,

I need your valid inputs on below received IELTS score for occupational role QA Analyst.

Listening - 7.0
Reading - 5.5
Writing - 6.0
Speaking - 6.0

Overall - 6.0

I read I have to get minimum 6 in all bands but want to confirm whether we can get eligible if we get band 6.0 overall.

Your inputs are very precious to me, based on that I will start preparing again for IELTS.
Also can you please guide me which one is easy to get good score in accordance with CELPIP & IELTS.

Expecting your valuable inputs.

Thank you very much

Minimum score of 6 in all four bands is required. I have a bias towards IELTS, as i can't imagine talking to a computer screen for "Speaking" section. Also, paper based test allows you to mark on sheets along with selective quick reading (looking for key words or skimming), and you can go back and double check your answers in the end if time permits. Not sure about CELPIP.
To improve score, best thing is to practice as many tests as you can and time it.. Local library is the best resource for these tests (Kaplan & Cambridge). Plus it's free!
Reading score can be improved by reading the questions first and then reading the paragraphs.. This saves you time and you can look for key words.. Hope this helps. All the best!

QA analyst under which category - IT?

If it is IT then i believe your NOC is 2171

NOC A - 2171 - QA (quality assurance) analyst – informatics (http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2011/QuickSearch.aspx?val65=2171)

CLB Level-----Listening-----Reading----Writing----Speaking
7-------------6.0----------6.0--------6.0--------6.0 (required)
6-------------7.0----------5.5--------6.0--------6.0 (your score)

So the reading is a problem. If you get 6.0 on reading, your overall band score will become 7 automatically.

Definitely too low. You need to take the test again.

Check this....2283 Information systems testing technicians...

If this is applicable, then its NOC B category...and your scores are good.

There is very little difference between 2171 & 2283.

Scores are too low for NOC A jobs but OK for NOC B jobs - look through the duties and see which ones match your job descriptions the best.

I don't think it is too low, it is just low on Reading. Nonetheless, you will have to retake the exam.

i ll suggest to improve reading score . coz its bit low. why to take chance.??if we know we can do something about it.

Thank you very much for your valuable inputs on this...

in my WP my Occupation showing as "QA Analyst" so I don't think I can apply under 2283, please advise.

I will try to re-take an IELTS again, and try to improve my score...

Work permit occupation doesn't matter. What matters is your employee letter. CIC will consider duties mentioned in you employment letter.

You should verify your duties with your employer, if Level A, you need to retake, if Level B, you are good to go. Title is not important from CEC perspective.
