Hello Gurus,

Can anybody explain is it require to score minimum 6 in EACH of the module? I got 5.5 in writing but calculating other score (6.5 in listing, speaking and reading) i am able to reach that golden figure '67' :)

But confused because of 5.5 in writting..

For FSW starting in May, YES. At least 6.0 in EACH module is required.

I think still the final guidelines of the minimum language proficiency are to be announced

Thank you all for sharing your views. Still i am confused As we have different opinions can we have one solid answer with a link or reference? That would help others also to have clear idea about ielts score

If you have reached 67 points, then it will be enough.

There is no criteria that you should get minimum 6 band in each category.

I got 5.5 in writing and overall 6 band.

Everythinh was fine. For further details visit www.cic.gc.ca

For anyone who needs information about the proposed (and to be implemented for May FSW) check the following link.

http://gazette.gc.ca/rp-pr/p1/2012/2012-08-18/html/reg2-eng.html

It clearly says that for the new FSW, there WILL be a new minimum for language ability and it will be set at CLB 7 for each category. CLB 7 would be equivalent to 6.0 IELTS. This conversion from CLB to IELTS is based on what CIC is currently implementing for the CEC program, so is likely to be the same for FSW too.

So, reaching 67 points will not be enough anymore. Along with having minimum of 1 year work experience and having your occupation in the occupation list, having at least CLB 7 equivalent in IELTS is a minimum requirement without which you will not be eligible to apply for the FSW.

While giving suggestion to people, please consider the possibility that the rules might have changed or might change for the future applicants. What was true when you applied back in 2010 might not be true any more. Refer to this link for the proposed changes that are set to be implemented starting in May 2013.

There seems to be lot of confusion with regard to IELTS score.. FSW 2013 annoucement clearly states that applicant should score min of 6 in each module.. else you wont be eligible to apply under fsw.

so that means you should get 6 in each module i.e speaking, writing, reading and listening.

Agreed..According to new FSWC which is going to open on May 4, 2013, minimum IELTS score in each band is 6.0. If less than 6 you are not eligible.

Hello,
Sorry to say but you will have to appear again if you wish to apply.Moreover,CLB 7 in each ability is required in order to be eligible to apply and only after that you should calculate your total points.

IELTS to CLB Conversion

Listening - 6.5 CLB 7 (4 Points)

Reading - 6.5 CLB 8 (5 Points)

Speaking - 6.5 CLB 8 (5 Points)

Writing - 5.5 CLB 6 ( No Points)

It is compulsory to score atleast 16 points in IELTS exam but you have scored only 14 points so you are not eligible to apply for FSW.

Good Luck

Hello all
Regarding this web.
http://www.newroots.ca/new_independent.htm

I understand we have to have min. 6 for each category for IELS exam, also:
spake=6, Listen=6, Read=6, write=6 all equal for 4 points
spake=6.5, Listen=7.5, Read=6.5, write=6.5 all equal for 5 points
spake=7, Listen=8, Read=7, write=7 all equal for 6 points

now my question is how much we have to get for each category to reach all 24 points for our first official language ability?
Thanks everyone
