Hi,

i am in the process of filling the initial application. In the form imm_0008 economic classes , in section 6 it asks
'Have you taken an approved test to assess your English proficiency ' and if yes it's asking to attach a copy of the results.

Is it Ok just to attach a photocopy of the test results ? Is there any need to get the photocopy attested by a lawyer ?

thanks

At this stage CIO is not really interested in any attested copies. Just attach a plain photocopy of your results

Taking it as oppurtunity, I would like to ask that is it necessary to give IELTS before submitting to Sidney, Canada? I mean if I just fill columns for IELTS in application foam on my perceived assessment & give test later after approval of my application at initial stage?

Thanks in advance.

It should work. You should say in the form that you have not taken ielts and give your own assesment for language proficiency. You will have to take it before submitting documents to CHC though

Attaching the IELTS result will add value to your point as you will know before submission to CIO the point that will be credited to you unlike the explanatory letter which put you at the mercy of the officer in charge of your form.
I have stated it in several forums that people should try and sit for this exams and send the result both to CIO and CHC.
We have a case right now that someone at medical stage is been requested to submit IELTS result within 90days and there is now way he will met up.He is writing CHC for extension for the submission and this will delay his PASSPORT request.
Good luck.

Come on guys, you don't send your IELTS score to CIO Sydney.

@ruka

There is ablsoutely no need to send any sort of english explantion or IELTS to CIC. It dosn't matter to them. Because they just check few things in intial application:

1. Demand draft/ credit card fee payment
2. Application fully filled or not
3. Duties under which NOC u applied
They do it as follows-
Completeness check
Citizenship and Immigration Canada reviews your application to make sure that:
•all required fields in your application forms are complete,
•all required document are submitted from the document checklist (IMM 5612), and
•the correct processing fee payment has been made
If your application is incomplete, your entire package (including your payment) will be returned to you with:
•a letter that identifies the missing entries and/or items
Eligibility Review
An officer will make an initial assessment of your application to determine whether:
•your application qualifies for processing under one of the three categories described in the Ministerial Instructions
If your application is being recommended for further assessment to a Visa Office, you will be sent a letter that:
•notifies you of this fact and provides you with your reference number,
•sets out some basic instructions for contact with the Visa Office, and
•instructs you to submit a copy of your application and all supporting documentation (see Visa Office specific forms) to the responsible Canadian Visa Office within 120 days (4 months)
If your application does not qualify for processing under the Ministerial Instructions you will be sent a letter that:
•provides the reason why your application is not eligible for processing
•confirms that a refund for the processing fee will be issued

Thus It is the local visa officer who needs these kinds of documents in later stage.

hope it will help.

100% agree with previous message.

Absolutely no need to send any sort of english explantion or IELTS to CIC.

Check the checklist!

It is not there!

No IELTS, no pictures.

Only the things in the check list.

Thanks all for their valuable replies :).

Further one more thing to ask that I'm putting check-marks in 'moderate' box for all four skills in English in one of the application form with assuming getting atleast 5.5 in all skills in IELTS later. Suggest me is it right that 5.5 band is fine for securing 2 points in all 4 skills in English? And guide me which box to be ticked in question:6 asking for english proficiency certificate in my case where I'm going to give IELTS after initial acceptance(foam link below).

Awaiting reply,

Salman.

Hi
I am planning to sent my initial application and i have not taken ielts general but i do have ielts score in academic one(7.5 overall) which was done in Jan 2009. My question is -shall i put on the question 6 i did take ielts and attach it or shall i say i have not taken yet .

Salman2007 : Do not do the moderate thing. Just mark all as very high and send for the moment. Do not get your rejected at the initial stage for this reason combined with other reasons. Eventually when you give your IELTS and get to know that all are average you will any way be reaccessed.

I have learnt from my mistakes and senior members opinion in this forum.

dipmm2000 : don't bother to attach. Mark no and all very high. Seniors will also give their expert opinion in some time.

i think you check the "yes" box and provide a copy of your result. for canadian immigration purposes, only the GT version of ielts is required. i guess academic is somewhat more difficult than gt. however, your ielts results is no longer valid as a requirement with CIC. it must be not older than one year. so you have to take another ielts exam before you submit your full app to the local visa office
