Hello experts!

I am taking the IELTS at British Council, Kuwait. Could you please tell me if this test is taken on a computer or on paper? During practice tests I see mixed instructions about carrying pencil & erasers to the test as well as 'copy' (CTRL + C) and 'paste' (CTRL + V) during writing sections.

I will really appreciate any help on this matter!

Dear Neha

Even the writing section? So, we need to make sure our handwritig is legible.

IELTS is given on papers. Don't forget to bring pencil, eraser and sharpner with you because pen is not allowed to use in the paper.

Best of luck to all of you. 8)

In some centers it is allowed to write essays by pen but not objectives. even in some centers u r not allowed to carry anything niether pencils or eraser center itself provide it.

Hi fma,

I have done my IELTS in British Council , Dubai. They have strictly told us to use pencil. This is my own experience.

Rest it is depend on the applicant.

I took mine on May 8, 2010 in the US. We had to do it on paper using pen/pencil.

British Council Bahrain last June2010. Pencil too. this is good for anybody, if there is any error easier to erase. :)

The general training version of the IELTS test is only offered on paper; the academic version is offered on the computer only at certain test centers on certain dates (you can find list at http://ieltsaustralia.com/candidates/findoutmore/article336.aspx.), on other dates and everywhere else the academic version is also paper-based.
