I took the test in June 2015 in the US. It is a structured process. Challenge is getting the dates that you desire. Usually dates are booked 3 weeks out. Check ielts.org for text centers and dates.

Good luck. Prepare well, especially for reading and writing.

I had a very good experience in giving IELTS in the USA...! I had given IELTS 4 times in India.. but finally got my desired score at the ELS Centre, Teaneck, NJ. Best ever..!

Listening:9
Reading:8
Writing:7
Speaking:7.5

Hi Rahul your score is excellent so can you please give some tips, links etc.especially in Reading module. My exam here in Canada next month.
Regards
Rabin

Thank you Rabin!

Sorry to reply so late..! Well, from my experience I find starting the reading test from the last very time saving! The reason I am saying this because the last paragraph is quite huge and when we reach the end of the reading test, we struggle for time! and thereby fail to concentrate the most. I have practised a lot and now manage to complete the reading test in under 35 mins. The leftover minutes should be used for revision and transferring the answers to the sheet.

For the listening test, I believe the most quintessential thing is 'concentration'.

I am unable to share my IELTS stuff here; It has all the stuff necessary for a great score..!

All the best!

planning to appear in IELTS in the US only...Is it a one day process here in the USA

Yes, generally the test is finished in a day, from 7am to 6pm [(LRW-morning) S -mostly after 12 noon], in the USA centers. If they are short-staffed, then they will mail you regarding the situation.
