Howdy folks. 1st attempt I had L9 R9 W8 S6.5. Speaking screwed me. This time I had a disaster of an exam, but luckily survived and got the minimum required score - L8 R8 W7.5 S7.
Folks looking to improve their score, go through as many Cambridge Books as possible. They are available on ieltsmaterial.com. Also, use http://ieltsliz.com/ for tips especially speaking and writing.
Good luck!

Yes. I am not bragging. I took IELTS test because I got a faculty offer from a Canadian University, and HR manager told me to take this test and she said it is better to get "8,7,7,7."

I have tried twice. For the first time, I failed at speaking. This time, I screwed the reading part. Last time I got 9 for reading. This time, because I messed up the time, so I filled all the answers in the sheet within 5 min and forgot to capitalize true, false...
Capitalizing is suggested, but not required. You will not be penalized for it. TRUE, true, T are all correct.

Depends on the individual. For speaking make sure u record ur answers, play them back and work on ur mistakes. Cambridge test books will give u the most accurate prediction of ur listening scores.

I can share you some writing materials if you are interested in.
Yes, please share with me. Although I have a lot of IELTS writing materials, it would be great to get something from someone who has scored 8!

I will PM you my email.

It depends person to person and what sort of score you are looking for.

Hardest to get 7 is writing. Many people struggle to get that score.

The rest is manageable.

For writing, just make sure to write a great letter for Task 1 in 20 minutes. I know IELTS experts suggest that more emphasis needs to be placed on task 2, but I felt from the feedback I got with my IELTS scores that scoring 8.5-9 in Task 1 is very crucial to get a writing score over 7.

See, the point is that no matter how well you think you do on task 2, getting 7 or more there is really hard as it takes exceptional English skills to get there. Getting the best possible score on task 1 helps you negate the score you lose on task 2. Task 1 is so much easier and straightforward as it is shorter and clearer on the goals of the task.

In my case, I took 20 minutes to write a very good letter, but I fell short on the number of words on task 2. I only wrote around 220 words and made a couple of spelling mistakes, and still managed to score a 7.5.

Also, make sure to work on your paraphrasing as your introduction paragraph for task 2 will mostly be a paraphrase of the question itself. It also helps to use different forms of the same word and possibly a few synonyms at various occupancies of the same word in your writing. Linking words / transition words are important too as they help structure you paragraphs better.

I think speaking depends on examiner , some could scored you with 6.5 and another with 7 wich make big difference for our purpose
Listening, well to hit 35 correct answers I think is the most difficult of the test

Hi!

I got the exact same listening today, 19.01.2019, GT, Sofia, Bulgaria, Europe.

I swear to God I didn't hear Flat 6, my husband didn't hear it either.

I expect a low score because I kinda panicked.... :( It's earlier to practise at home and get an 8...

Thanks! I guess I'll never know what it was, people can't review their tests, right?
No, Ielts doesn't show answers , what people do is compare answers with each other on this forum so you can have an idea how you did it
