Are we allowed to submit IELTS for UKVI? Has someone passed it? Actually both tests are absolutely similar. The only difference is an extra line in the certificate with UKVI number.

Do we need to submit the most recent result or is it enough for the result to be just valid. I have 2 IELTS result both are CLB 10, however the most recent is IELTS General for UKVI, while the other is an average IELTS General. Both are relatively new. Not sure if I need to update my profile.

Should not be a problem if you took the IELTS General.

If I take an IELTS test for UK visa purposes, can I use my result in other countries / for other purposes?

Yes. IELTS test results are accepted by more than 9,000 organisations worldwide, including universities, colleges, governments and employers.

Yeah I read this. I'm just curious if CIC officers read this text as well.

I've already uploaded IELTS results at CLB 10 level. Not sure if I need to update them with IELTS for UKVI that I just received and they're also at CLB 10 level. Not sure if either option can affect my application somehow.

Why take the risk , if the general Ielts result is perfect and valid , why would you risk CIC officer rejecting your application because of ielts marked as ukvi

Keep it simple to CIC and use the general

Hi, did you find any solution to this problem? I am in a similar situation. I wonder if you could have some advice for me.

I'm in the same boat, I have an IELTS UKVI General Training test from the UK. I am now in the process of applying for Express Entry and want to use that test for this purpose. I am wondering if there will be any issues with it! I'd hate to spend over $300 and dedicate time and effort due to bureaucracy and red tape!

I wonder if anyone has an update on this? I'll keep you posted if I find the answer.

Hi there:

I tried one of an owner of IELTS namely: Cambridge University. Based on their response, IELTS GENERAL TRAINING is only accepted by CIC-Canada. UKVI is thus not an acceptable test for CIC as per Cambridge's response. Dig it more. Let us know if you come across anything new.

All the best,

Thank you for the responses. I called IELTS Canada today and they lady told me she "thinks" it'll be okay, but I need to check with CIC. The frustrating part is, that CIC is virtually impossible to get in touch with...

The UK Visa and Immigration (UKVI) IELTS is General Training, so if they only accept IELTS General Training, then the UKVI one should be suitable, no? I do however understand, that the whole process is very bureaucratic and it's down to the discretion and mood of the visa officer.

On a side note, I would NEVER do IELTS again, it's the worst English language test I ever sat, it's outdated and the way it is administered is absolutely appalling! I scored 8.0 average out of 9.0, so I'm not butt hurt because of my score, but because of the whole treacherous experience.

Should I need to do a new language test, I will DEFINITELY go with CELPIP. It's much more modern, faster and better in every way.

PS.

I just looked at the Test Report Form and it states that the results can be verified on this website https://ielts.ucles.org.uk/ielts-trf/

I don't see why a CIC officer, couldn't just verify it there... I'll call IELTS UK tomorrow and check with them if CIC could have access to UKVI results.

Hi again:

Thank you for sharing your experiences and your observations pertaining IELTS are accurate. But for millions, there is simply no choice to opt for anything else other than IELTS or TOFEL. CELPIP is rated highly for its modernity but unfortunately, its only limited to 4 countries. So not much of a choice. Lets us know when you hear anything from IELTS UK.
