Can anyone confirm what did they treat the letter as for the writing task 1? Formal or semi-formal?

I didn't do any practice for the writing, so I went for semi formal. I ended it with a kind regards.

Nice. I just learned that i made a mistake with ending salutation. I treated the letter as a semi-formal, however I ended it with Yours Faithfully.

I wrote kind regards at first and then at the last moment while double checking...I corrected it to Yours sincerely...thank god..luckily I had couple of minutes at the end to double check

Yes I checked mine online. Sat for the exam in U.S.A. So disappointed, one section took me down.

Overall: 8 - L:8.5, R: 6.5, W: 8, S: 8.5

I'm thinking of applying for a remark (IDP)

Yes that seems a bit Odd, but I think you would still get the max points. I noticed a difference of 60 points if only i had 7.0 in reading. SMH

I took the "Standard IELTS General Training Test" and paid 970 AED. Is that the right IELTS test for Canadian Fast Track Immigration?

Can you please suggest some books for self study..The material given by IELTS ,after registration is sufficient or we need to refer other books also.
