Hi all.
So finally the stars have aligned and I will be moving to Canada on the 14th of March!!
Now, the only thing I still need is Medical Insurance and that brings up the following question:
1. Do I apply for 1 or 2 years?
My Dutch Passport expires only at the end of 2025 and I cannot find any information as to if Canada Border Services issues a 1 or 2 year work permit at the border. I am aware of the conditions they base the length of the work permit on (Medical Cover, Employment and Passport Validity) but I am afraid that:
- If I pay for one year of medical cover that the work permit is limited to 1 year while I could have had 2 or;
- I pay for two years and they only give me one based on various things such as which Nationality I have.
2. Also, I am looking to find out which provider of medical insurance is best value for money, as I have found a whole bunch of different quotes with different pricing but basic cover. I have taken all the deductibles into account as well, but would like to also be able to travel in and out of the USA. If any other Dutch Citizens have gone over before and were in the same boat as I was back then, please let me know how it went for you
Thanks!
