IEC - Flagpoling/POE Letter Question

Hey guys,

I've got a question regarding the IEC POE letter process.

I've received an ITA through the Young Professionals category and have all my paperwork ready. It looks like getting the work permit approved/a POE letter can take ~ 8 weeks, and my employer would like for me to start within a month so I'm in a bit of a time crunch.

I'm currently in Canada and from a TRV-exempt country, so I was wondering if I could flagpole without a POE letter and apply for/get the work permit there? My understanding is that people from TRV-exempt countries can flagpole to get work permits as long as they don't need an LMIA (which I wouldn't anyway since this is under IEC).

Wondering if anyone knows whether that might be an option? If not, curious as to how long people actually waited for their POE letter.

Thanks.

You need the POE letter given without that you cannot assume you have been approved with just an ITA, so answer is not until you get the POE then you can flagpole with all the prereq documents,

Cannot speak specifically to YP but have heard for the WHV people they have submitted their application and received the POE in couple weeks. Just depends on how busy they are or whether any extra checks are needed, the 8 weeks is a worst case to not set any false expectations.

Thanks, good to hear that that the 8 weeks might be a worst case. I'll just have to cross my fingers and wait then!
