IEC Canada - dependent

Hello,

We are British citizens, and my wife is eligible to apply under this program as she is under 30. Since I am not getting enough CRS points, we thought we could use this option.
It does say however, dependents will have to apply separately.
Since myself and our baby are also British citizens, there are no requirements for visit visas, but its pretty important I am able to work - Would this be an application for an "Open work permit"?

and does this depend on my wife finding work after getting her IEC visa (for example, if she didn't work... is that a problem).

Many Thanks.

Yes - if she doesn't work - that's certainly a problem. In that case you will not qualify for an open work permit.

You can apply for an open work permit. However only once your wife is in Canada, has a job that fall under NOC A, B or 0, and can provide at least three pay slips to prove she is working.

Thanks for clarifying.
Assume the open work permit falls under this category...
"a spouse or family member of someone working or studying temporarily in Canada"

Thank you.
There is another category, I am wondering will work for me...
"holding a temporary resident permit valid for at least 6 months"

Could you advice how the temporary resident permit is applicable for a British Citizen?

No - won't work.

A TRP is a special class of visa that is difficult to get and is reserved for individuals who are inadmissible to Canada - typically due to a crime.

Wow...I thought it would be "relatively" easier for a british citizen to migrate. my many years of work experience and high income doesnt help in the CRS :-(

No advantage.

At this point, your best bet is for your spouse to come here and get a skilled job so that you can qualify for a work permit as well.

What is your CRS score? Does you wife have a work history that would lead to good chances of getting employed in BOC, 0, A or B. Getting IEC for British applicants is usually competitive so there is also no guarantee she will get a spot. What field of work are you in? If you are in a more specialized field you may have a better chance of getting an LMIA.
