I am a Canadian citizen living in the USA. My 4 year old was born in the USA and I am in the process of applying for Canadian citizenship for him (CIT-0001 form).

As part of the application, I need to send in his birth certificate.

The document checklist also separately asks for two forms of identification.

My son has a US passport but no other ID because he is just 4 years old.

Does the birth certificate count as a second ID? If not, what else can I use for an ID for a 4 year old?

thanks!

thanks for the help. With US private insurance, we just get a paper card that has the whole family's names written on it with no DOB or anything like that. It might work but it isn't really used as an ID.

I believe others have said that a Social Security card works.
