ICAS CANADA - APPLICATION TIMELINES

Hi guys
My Report has sent on 09/16/2014 as above, but unfortunately I have not receive it yet after 16 days!!! Does anyone have any opinion how long does it take to receive the report? I called them but they didn't give me any specific answer. All of my documents are ready and I do not know what to do! ??? :-[

Congratz bro..mine is still showing same status i.e assessment in progress since 5-sep...i called icas and the idiot ppl there not giving proper reply!!! They r the worst organization i hv ever seen! Its 4th month my documnts r in their (_!_)

Hello all,

My University is "University of South Asia". Its based in Lahore, Pakistan.

When I joined my University for Bachelors in 1999, it was not chartered at the time. However, during my tenure, my university did receive HEC charter/recognition as DAI (Degree Awarding Institution) in 2003, and remains HEC recognized to-date.

I completed my Bachelors in 2004 and Masters in 2006. My Bachelors/Masters degrees/transcripts and their photocopies have recently been attested by HEC in September 2014.

In this specific case, will ICAS do the ECA of my documents ?

ICAS support via email tells me;

(a) they don't give refunds
(b) they cant perform ECA in this specific case

I can't apply to WES. WES won't accept my application, since my university is not listed in their "accepted list" of universities "for Pakistan".

Any insight is appreciated

ICAS is indeed frustrating. It takes them over two months after the receipt of ones documents to commence assessment. They are indeed very slow. I am sure most people are been held back by the assessment. I already started a fresh application for assessment with WES. Hope to receive theirs in a shorter time.

I called ICAS and come to know as on 28OCT they are yet processing files received on or before 23 July.

CIC should ban ICAS as they are very slow. If ICAS has such a big backlog why don't they stop accepting fresh applications.

ICAS remains a crazy body. I am certain the promise to turn out reports in approximately 10 weeks time cannot be correct.

10 weeks is two weeks from now and they are still processing July 29. We need to find a way of reporting this agency to CIC. They should be delisted.

I already wrote to Immigration minister and below is reply I got from them yesterday:

This is in reply to your correspondence of October 28, 2014, addressed to Mr. Chris Alexander, Canada’s Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, concerning Educational Credential Assessments (ECAs).

The Government of Canada is building an immigration system that is focused on economic growth and ensuring that all Canadians and permanent residents are able to contribute to their maximum capacity. As you are aware, as of May 4, 2013, all applicants wanting to immigrate as Federal Skilled Workers will need to have their foreign educational credentials assessed and authenticated by designated organizations before they arrive in Canada.



Four organizations have been designated by the Minister to provide ECA reports for purposes of immigrating to Canada, including Comparative Education Services, International Credential Assessment Service of Canada, World Education Services and the Medical Council of Canada.



Applicants who list “Specialist physician – NOC 3111 or General practitioners and family physicians – NOC 3112” or “Pharmacist – NOC 3131” as their primary occupation in their application must submit an ECA report issued by a designated professional body. The designated professional bodies for equivalency assessments are:

Medical Council of Canada (MCC)
Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada (PEBC)

Applicants listing any other occupation as their primary occupation in their application are free to submit an ECA report from any one of the following designated assessment organizations:

Comparative Education Service (CES), University of Toronto
International Credential Assessment Service of Canada (ICAS)
World Education Services (WES)

I have noted your concerns over ICAS. Applicants should contact the designated organizations directly for further information on their documentation requirements, processing times, and fees as these issues do not fall under the responsibility of our department. Furthermore, your clients may wish to explore the other designated organizations listed above.
