Hello everyone,
Please I want to really know what's happening to my mpnp profile. I was given LAA when I submitted EOI in 2019, Thompson, manitoba as my destination, which I was later given LAA and to complete a full application which I later declined through an email due to unavailability of some documents needed to complete my full application as at that time.
But I recently put in for another EOI, with a ranking score of 667, and a draw was done on Feb 13th, 2020, with lowest ranking score of 611 but i was not given LAA.
My people, please could someone just explain to me what has happened or is it because I declined the first LAA or it used to happen like that? I'm so confused right now. Please I need all the explanation and advice as I don't even know what else to do. Thanks so much.

Are you an applicant already in Manitoba?
Since the middle of 2019 there have been no draws for skilled workers overseas unless you have been recruited through a strategic innitiative.

No I'm not an applicant already in Manitoba, I'm in Nigeria applying for mpnp. Thanks for the information about skilled workers overseas. my question is would there be a draw for skilled workers overseas anytime at all ? The information enlightened me about the latest draw cos I was just bothered about d lowest ranking score not knowing that the draw was not skilled workers overseas. Thanks for your prompt response.

No problem.

There have been a lot of people asking when the next draw for skilled workers overseas will be, the truth is that nobody knows I'm afraid.

It could be next time or might not happen for several months, it seems odd that they haven't made a skilled workers draw for over half a year...
I guess they are just overloaded with paperwork.

This is a good catch, so for over 6 month mpnp hasnt invited any skilled workers from overseas? @Wotsit can I ask you a few questions please?

Seems to me that you live in Manitoba!!

Q1) Do you see many people who live in Manitoba as Students or on open work permits who actually leave the country because they eventually fail getting selected for mpnp?
Q2) If someone is on an open work permit, comes to Manitoba, even if they have not studied there or lived in manitoba ever, if they get a job in 0,A,B NOC do they get 500 points and get LAA from mpnp?
Q3) The Reason i ask Q2 is because 500 points for a job offer in 0,A or B seems like a lot of points and the reason i am guessing so many points are awarded is because it is close to impossible for someone to easily land a job offer in those NOC's?

Hi Mona,
I don't actually live in Manitoba, still in the process of getting there. I just have a little knowledge of the subject because I have been nominated by mpnp through a strategic innitiative.
In my opinion:

1. People who live in Manitoba through work and study are still being selected, it's just those who are overseas that aren't.
2 and 3: I guess that once you are living in Manitoba with one of those nocs you get 500 points because you have proven you have the ability to support yourself and are working in an area they are short of skilled workers. The employers will have have proven the shortage by going through the process of getting an lmia.

Getting a job offer would be difficult from outside of Canada with no right to work.

Pls is declining the first LAA given to me by mpnp have any negative effect on my mpnp profile n further application? Or what can I do to be on a save side?

If you decline your LAA it should have no bearing on future applications but you would have to create a new account to submit another EOI.

great thanks

how did you get selected via the strategic initiative route? did you express interest in your profile only towards Manitoba? or did you just create an EOI without connections in the province !!

I applied through the Morden initiative.
Its for those who have no connections to Manitoba but who want to live and work in Morden and have experience in one of their in-demand occupations.

Hi, I have no answer to question 1. But as for Q2 and 3: My husband is currently on an open wp as a dependent on my Study permit. He’s actually working in a job belongs to B NOC right now. And we have started our mpnp application right after he’s worked for 6 months here in MB. So keep your hope high and I hope this helps.
