Febuary 19, 2013

To whom it may concern:

I would like to apply for the Statement in lieu of Certificate of non impediment to Marriage Abroad. And I have enclosed my Statutory Declaration of Single Status , a copy of my citizenship card and a copy of my passport which were notarized by a lawyer. The reason that I can not provide a copy of my record of landing, is because I already lost it. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact me at (647) xxx xxx, or email me at
XXXXXXXXX @ yahoo.com
And my mailing address is:
XXXXX XXXXXX
10000 XXXX Road
North York, ONT

Thank you

Have you found this web-page yet?

http://international.gc.ca/about-a_propos/authentication-authentification_documents.aspx?lang=eng&view=d#Statements

I normally prefer to copy and paste content, but this one is rather lengthy. (And you may have seen it already.) Specifically mentioned are "lost Record of Landing" and "Vietnam" re: the 3 month time limit on the validity of your Statement In Lieu of Certificate . . .

From what your questions to everybody on this forum, you may head to a very rough road to bring your wife here. Many people here answered many of your questions, but the onus is on you to read all the official instructions, follow them, and advice from people here. Here are some more tips for you:
- You need to send all documents to the Department of Foreign Affairs (including Marriage Search). When you have them back, don't open the seal, send them all to the Embassy with other documents and fees in a form of Money order.
- Expect to have at least 3 weeks (highly likely a lot more) in the country to get the Marriage Certificate
- Since you don't do the Medical exam in Canada, you have Medical exam in VN right away at a designated hospital. This will take time but if you know your way, it'll be quick.
- Don't promise your bride anything about how quick she can join you here. Singapore is notoriously slow and long. This is the least you worry about at this time.
- Prepare for unexpected hurdles.
