Brother, in detail, for your IELTS score mentioned above will fetch you 16 points with CLB level 7, below will find the required CLB level for the particular ability. To add up, to get CLB 9 scores you need to score particular ability score or above to fetch you 24 points giving 6 points per ability. hope this clarifies your question asked.

First official language (Maximum 24 points)
CLB Level Ability: Speaking Ability: Listening Ability: Reading Ability: Writing Points per ability
7 6 6.0 – 7.0 6 6 4
8 6.5 7.5 6.5 6.5 5
9 7 8 7 7 6

Dear dav,

You can't club your scores from different CLB level, so for CLB level 7 you need to score as mentioned or above & same like for other CLB level also.

for example, if you score :- L-8, R-7,W-7, S-7 you can claim CLB 9 level & will get 24 pints for language.

@james_tvm your calculation is wrong.

His score for language is 18. Not 16.

He has CLB 8 for speaking and listening. And CLB 7 for other two.

His total score is 5+5+4+4 = 18
