They don't care about privacy. I once went to a hospital to enquire about STD testing and the doctor loudly discussed everything I whispered to him, and everyone in the waiting area heard the conversation.

You went to a hospital to enquire about STI testing which is outrageous to begin with since it is not a medical emergency. This wasn’t a private consultation it was an ED and likely before registration & triage. What were you expecting? They didn’t announce your name and address. I literally sat through a 30 minute discussion about end of life and palliative care while I was in the next bed last time I was in hospital.
