Hi guys,

I just received an email from Buffalo visa office today containing my full name and file number stating that i have to submit a fingerprint based police clearance from Canada. The letter contains the details of how to proceed to the police clearance from canada.

My online status is still the same "Received by the visa office".

My timeline :

Applied to the CIO : June 8, 2009

Received approval letter from the CIO : August 19, 2009 (by email)

Sent full application to Buffalo visa office: September 24, 2009

Received AOR from Buffalo: October 21, 2009 (by email)

Sent additional documents on Feb, 2010 including the saudi police clearance and other documents (upon receipt, without their request).

Received a letter from Buffalo today April 6, 2010 (by email) asking for a police clearance from Canada.

The wierd thing is that the email address is (re-buffalo-im-enquiry @ international.gc.ca)

but i have not sent them any email or enquiry asking whether i need to submit a police clearance from Canada or not ? so why it is "Re" and why is it "enquiry" i have no idea !

That's a good sign. They are looking at your file now. Very fast, considering your AOR date!

Re: I think Buffalo Visa office started Processing my application "AOR" Oct 2010

Thanks for the reply guys,

I have just finished my digital fingerprint (at an RCMP agent)

http://www.policecheck.com/Ontario.html

It cost me $ 45.35 CAD, and they sent it immediately through the computer network to the RCMP and the results are supposed to be sent directly to the Buffalo visa office after 72 hours.

roopa82,

I fall under category (1) NOC 1111 and (3) international student in Canada for more than one year, and sent documents to prove both of them. I really hope that they started processing the application.

googleman,

yes actually i am surprised same as you, for them asking me to submit a police clearance from canada, it means that someone in Buffalo visa office is looking at my file.

I hope that Buffalo is going to speed up their processing time

Thanks for the reply,

I was under the impression that they use this email address :

(re-buffalo-im-enquiry @ international.gc.ca) only when they reply on applicants enquiries

and they use this one :

(BFALO.IM-REG-ARCH @ international.gc.ca) whenever they send any requests or information to the applicants. that is why i am a little confused.

I heard that most In-Canada applicants are not even required to submit their Canadian criminal record to Buffalo because Buffalo has access to it. Do you happen to know why yours was requested?

Oh actually, there is a misunderstanding from your side about the Police clearance from Canada. Buffalo visa office has access to your information if you live in Canada, but no one has his fingerprint done and processed by the RCMP even if you have been living in Canada since a long time. Therefore, even when Buffalo makes its checks on you by accessing your information, there will be no information about the criminal records because they do not have your fingerprint. after you get your fingerprint processed by the RCMP, they check your records whether they have on their system your fingerprint done previously and attached to any criminal records.

Even today when i got my fingerprint done, they made me sign an agreement states that i authorize the RCMP to send the results of my police clearance to the BUffalo visa office, so it means that Buffalo does not have a full access on your information if you do not authorize them to do so.

Regarding the request for the fingerprint police clearance, it is not the first time for me to see people from within canada who have been asked to submit that document even females not only males. It is up to the visa office.
