Dear Friends

I have posted my CV on internet for better opportunities. I got many calls from many companies.. but because of bit choosy I waited for the better options. So I got a call from a person name Amjad & he said that he works for the recruitment agency in Canada. he tells me about many jobs related to my field, but I said him that I am not interested in the that jobs, So after few day he call me again and said that he has found a job related to my previous stream and I ask him that would I have to pay anything for that and he said that he will only deduct the 50% of my salary for 3 months. So I though that looks like a genuine person to me, so after that I forward him my documents. After few days he send me the contract & agreement letter and he said that you have to submit your file with letter & you will get the visa. I ask him the letter that what it is called he said that it is called LMIA or LMO.

After few days I submit my file and after almost month later I got letter from High Commission and I really got shocked when I read that my application has been rejected because of that LMIA.

So I just wanna let you guys if something happen with you like that, So don't apply or send your documents to anyone to whom you people shouldnt have met by personally ....

It doesn't really matter where the call came from. If someone is offering you a job in exchange for money - it's a scam.

Can you please help me to sort it out?..I am from bangladesh and i know a guy in Bangladesh who is having his uncle in Quebec. His uncle was in need of foreign employee. So, i applied last November and selected. Received Appointment letter and also contract form from employer. After that received LMO confirmation copy in February and few days back received CIC approval copy. Seems everything looks perfect, but bit confuse about my documents, whether it is genuine or not? Is there any how you can help me? I am doubting my Employer and paid USD 1150 at the beginning.

Sorry to burst your bubble buddy. But it is a scam for sure. LMO doesn't exist since mid 2014, for a foreign employee to be hired, the employer has to muster an LMIA. Should you still chose to file your application to CIC on the basis on this "LMO", rest assured you would be banned from applying for 2 years.

If your work permit has been approved. I don't see any trouble or scam. You received positive LMIA then only you were able to get your WP approved unless you were eligible for any other category.

FYI:LMO has been renamed to LMIA last year and there were some changes made too. So, an employer needs to pay $1,000 fee for a new LMIA and an applicant has to pay $155 for Work permit and $100 for TRV (if applicable).
