Exactly, I always believe Post Graduate Work Permit is more a matter of "Total Credit Hours" you complete.

Do you personally think that CIC people even look at the credit hours?..I think that they only look for the fact that your a full time graduate...

Hi,

Yes, definitely I can say as such. My elder sibling finished MBA program in 15 months (Original duration was 18 months) with full 57 Credit Hours and received a 3 year PGWP.

I think even in his case it’s an issue of Credit Hours. I agree that on CIC website there is no mentioning of Credit hours, but on a ‘Graduation Certificate’ (which we have to submit at Case Processing Centre, Vegreville, Alberta) contain all information like ‘Total Credit Hours’, Grades, Courses and all that.

I repeat I am only making a guess. I have only one proved fact and nothing else.

How many credit hours are generally in a 2 year diploma? 16 months of actual studies? any ideas?

Hi,

A 4 year under graduate degree is equal to 120 credit hours. I am sure for a 2 year Diploma it should be around 60 credit hours. But there are different criteria to determine to credit hours for Diploma, Under graduate/Master degree course. For Master (MBA) it’s around 55 Credit hours which is equivalent to 16 months of academic terms.

i hve applied in uni of Manitoba for M.Eng in Electrical n computer engineering and there r only 24 credit hours (8 courses total) of study for M.Eng in electrical n computer engineering and program duration is 2 years.. so will i get 3 years PGWP or 1 year ?? :-(

As far as i think it doesn't matter whether u do your diploma in a year or 18 month (1 and a half year).what matter is the total credit you have obtained during your program which is near around 60 credits to get a 3 year post graduation work permit. what i mean to say is you can do ur 2 year diploma in a year or a half to get 60 credits rather than utlizing the whole 2 year and still get 3 year post graduation permit. So it depends upon the total credits obtained.

I also think they don't bother about credit hours as one had full time course.

i am guessing that

May be they verify grades of students which can be necessary for valid 3 year work permit.

Hey bro,

I had also studied at Centennial and completed the 2 year program and got two year work permit, thats definitely an error call the call centre at 1-888-242‑2100 ask them what is the procedure to it corrected.
