Hi. I'm an international student in Canada. And I'd like to tell my story to you.
I was studying ESL in Canadian University a year ago, and I extend my permit during ESL courses.
So expiry date of my current permit is on July 31, 2018.
I applied and got admission of Open Study program for winter term because diploma program which I want didn't take any new student.
However, my family said I need to come back, and now I've stayed in my country from Jan 24, 2017. I'll go back to Canada on July for my fall semester 2017.
I asked to two school advisers about my permit if there is any way to keep it. One of them answered 'I think you should reapply. But I'm not sure about that. Ask another adviser for this.' So, I met another adviser and asked same question. But she said 'You don't need to apply. CIC site mentions when students complete their program, their permit will be invalid after 90 days. But you're not in this case. You haven't completed the course.'
Honestly, I couldn't believe because I thought I have to apply for my new permit.
I asked about it to other people, and I was sure my study permit will expire. And I thought there's no problem now.
(I also sent an e-mail to CIC, but they haven't given any answer to me)
But I'm facing another problem.
I signed in my CIC account with no special reason.. (I just wanted to look..)
And It said my study permit is still valid despite 90 days passed.
Should I ignore it and reapply?
If I have to reapply, should I do it as extending?
