Dear all,

I sponsored my wife in 2009 and she received her PR card in 2010. Now i can not meet the residency requirements and will lose my PR status soon. After i lost my PR status, can she sponsor me so i can get a new permanent resident status?

thanks.

At present, are you in Canada or outside? If you are in Canada, you do not have to worry about PR status. Just continue to stay here. If you are outside, i would recommend you to come to Canada before your PR card expires.

Your question was previously answered here:

The short answer is that we don't know. It's very difficult to say how CIC will decide to apply the 5 year rule. You'll have to try and let us know what happens.

Good luck.

sakamath makes a valid point, in that so long as you remain in Canada (IF you are here), simply stay in Canada until you DO meet PR residency. Once you do, THEN go ahead and renew your PR card.
