I see that the visa extension processing time has been updated.

You were right about the actual processing time, the Web site is not telling the whole truth, the updates obviously take time.

Either way, I received my extension today, it was dated 01 APR 2010. I am happy that the VR was granted.
The conditions are the same as my original VR.
I know, or can guess what some of the items on the VR mean:

Bonded: NO - means that I did not have to post a bond to stay (I guess that this is requested if they don't trust you).
Fee status: FPC - Fee Paid in Canada (with the receipt number).

So I have a couple of questions, what is Case type 10 ?

Would anyone care to tell me where I can read about :
Temporary resident status maintained as per R183(6). CNP/E*

Be very very careful that you give yourself enough time to apply for a visitors extension... Mine was up on Sept.30th, we sent out the application 1 month prior in August, just like what was recommended online and we did not receive a letter back until Dec. 29th, by that time it was too late to even apply for restoration of my status and now I have to leave the country. You get 90 days to apply for restoration after your visitor extension expires....

Just be careful and send things way ahead of what they tell you.

I only have partial information on those "case type" codes, but a case type 10 is a visitor record with no authorization to work or study. The most common codes end in "0" or "7" and the first digit indicates whether you can visit (1), work (2), or study (3). Here's a partial list I found somewhere:

Visitor Record case Type 17
Work Permit (Employment Authorization) case type 27
Study Permit (Student Authorization) case type 37
Temporary Resident Permit (Ministerial Permit) case type 86, 87, 88 or 89

If you have a case type in the 80s or 90s, you can apply for OHIP.

I assume you were refused ?

Either way that seems a bit crazy, obviously you have implied status from the time they receive your extension application.
But if the clock is ticking on the 90 days (from the expiry date of your old VR), people would be wise to start chasing CIC for a reply.
Is that what they really want? It would make more sense that the 90 days starts from the date that they refuse the extension.
