Just apply for the RTD and surrender your passport. You should include a letter explaining why you renewed your passport and clarifying that you have not used it to travel back to your home country. They can easily verify this with the stamps on your passport.

What you did is not forbidden or illegal, but you will have to explain why you did it. I assume that you didn't apply for an RTD because you didn't know about it... if that's the case then say so.

Obviously, my assumption is that you have not traveled back to your country.

If the government decided to take your PR, they would have to prove that by renewing your passport you were seeking the protection of your home country government... That is not easy to prove.

If you want more reassurance then you should talk to an immigration lawyer, that will give you the peace of mind that is hard to get by reading anonymous posts on an online forum.
Thanks so much I already spoke to my lawyer and we are working on it :)

What if the refugee request permit to visit origin country in order to see their sicked parent to immigration? Can this action be considered as not intention to get protection from origin country?
It would be considered that you no longer need protection from your home country in Canada. I would STRONGLY advise you not visit your home country if you want to retain your refugee status.

It is quite possible that it could be seen as reavailment. If you do go, keep it short. No more than a week or two. There have been cases where refugees have returned home in similar circumstances and managed to get a positive appeal, but not many. It is unfortunately one of the conditions of being a refugee. Keep it well documented why you went, including doctor/patient records. If it isn’t life threatening, don’t go.

Not a positive finding, but it does identify that visiting sick parents doesn’t necessarily lead to cessation. But you need to be very careful and very specific.

Although the panel can understand the respondent’s initial reason for travelling was to visit a sick parent, an action that should generally not be held against him pursuant to paragraph 125 of the Handbook when applying the cessation clause based on paragraph 108(1)(a) of the IRPA, nevertheless, with the exception of a summary statement[15], no medical evidence was provided to corroborate his father’s fragile health and justify a XXXX‑month stay in his country of origin, against which he claimed refugee protection.

Thank you Gavendano !!! For such a helpful reply . Yes I have not travelled back on that passport . I day I found out I destroyed it . My friend is stuck in the same situation and he travelled to his country without even disclosing the fact to the immigration that he had renewed his passport . I am wondering how come he could get away by not telling cbsa. Where as I am still stuck here out of the fear that what if the government try to cease my PR on a very honest mistake . ‍♀

As a refugee while your PR is in process you could get a travel document RTD which will allow you to travel probably all around the world just not the home land . Do not travel back to your home country or renew your home country passport .

If you travel anywhere on your home country passport, you are re-availing yourself of the protection of your country, meaning you don't need protection in Cansda and aren't a genuine refugee.

Just to clarify that there are countries that do not accept the RTD so you won’t be able to travel to those countries until you get citizenship.

That was the problem since I asked. That what really I knew it that on RTD Dubai Saudi Arabia and Bahrain is not going to issue me visa since I have to travel for friend marriage. Otherwise I have to wait till I get citizenship. I have one more question please

For PR they might going to ask me police clearance certificate. Since I lived abroad more then 7 years, it's from Bahrain while my PR in process before they ask I can arrange my Police clearance letter before it get delay since my friend told me once they request I only have 30 days. And from Bahrain I guess it will take time..

Second question

Once PR approved do we have to go for interview I mean me and my wife and kids.

What they gonna ask and how long it will take and any fee. Please advice thank you guys.

I arrived in Canada two years ago through the Private Sponsorship program, and I used my valid passport to travel to Europe only once. I never went back to my home country nor did I renew my passport. Does this have an impact on my Citizenship application? Nobody told me that it is recommended not use my home country passport!

Yes it could have an impact. You are not allowed to use your passport at all. Do not use your passport or renew it again.
