Dear friends,
I had applied for the immigration to Canada and I received my file number in dec 2005. . My husband brother has recently become a permanent resident in Canada, in dec 2007. I had applied with the old type not the simplified application. I just want to know if I am allowed now to get the 5 points of the relative. some people told me that I am not allowed to get the 5 points because my relatives has got his permanent residence after I had applied for the immigration. I'll be so grateful if someone gives me his opinion for this situation

I have also heard that once u apply the points will not be considered at a later stage. In your case it should not be a problem either way. Points are basically to see if u r eligible or not.Since u already have a file no. points don't matter now. It is not that the more the points the faster or easier things would be.The processing time it depends from which CIC u have applied.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

AP

If you think you might not have enough points, go ahead and notify CIC that your brother just became a permanent resident.

If they haven't assessed your application, I believe you'll get the points.
