I need help! I'm not sure if I am filling in the right forms!

Hi guys!

My husband and I are looking to apply to move permanently to Canada but I'm not sure I am filling in the right forms.
I clicked on the skilled workers link on the website and downloaded the application pack. (It takes me to the FSW forms)
But while I looking through the instruction guide, I came across the application category.
It says I need to fall into one of 2 categories otherwise I need to apply under a different class.

Category 1
Have to have an offer of arranged employment in Canada

Category 2
International student currently enrolled in a doctoral (PhD) program, delivered by a recognized post-secondary educational institution located in Canada OR have completed the Phd program.

I thought if we applied as skilled workers, we don't need a PhD. I thought they took into account our work experience.
We don't have a job offer and we don't have a Phd (or working on one).

Am I filling in the right forms?
If not, what am I supposed to use?

Parts of the Skilled Worker program are closed. They should reopen in May. They haven't even published their new list of in-demand professions yet.

The new program will most likely depend heavily on arranged employment and the PhD program because it hasn't been working as well as the government hoped to get the right skilled workers in the right areas at the right time.

If you don't have arranged employment, you'll need to wait until they reopen the program.

I don't think anyone can 100% answer either of those questions because we don't know what the future holds for sure. Here are my best guesses:

1) Probably not. They will probably roll out all new forms and make all the old forms invalid. They will probably do this for all types of FSW, including arrange employment and PhD streams. CIC likes to change forms frequently to confuse us

2) It will depend if you meet their new eligibility. We don't know what that is for sure yet.

Here is what I do know - if either of you is in a earth or math science field - i. e., geologist, engineer - I would feel comfortable saying there's a very good chance your job will be on the in-demand list. If either of you holds a 4 year degree for nursing and another 4 year degree OR master's degree in business/healthcare management - your job will definitely be on the in-demand list. (Or you have a nursing degree and management experience on the job.)

I doubt we will see many Liberal Arts degrees (English, History) on the list and the same for many business/finance degrees. Accountant was on the most recent list I saw, but that isn't the new list.

This is entirely speculation on my part. If I were you, I would research the in-demand jobs in Canada right now. The list surprises me sometimes. I think we'll see a huge reaction to it in April when it's published.

Another thing to keep in mind - some jobs are definitely in demand in certain areas. That healthcare management I was refering to? It's a lot more in demand in rural areas than major cities. (Which is how I planned my studies!)

I would definitely be interested to see other's opinions on your questions

What country are you from?

We currently live in the UK and we're both in Payroll (Account Managers)
Do we know when the new eligibility details will be released?
I know they are accepting applications on 4th of May but do we have dates for anything else?

Its all so confusing, right when we thought we had all the paperwork we need to be ready for May, this comes up

Mr. Kenney has actually advised applicants to hold off preparing their files right now because of the uncertainty. A lot of people aren't going to listen, of course, because there will be a huge rush to get in the door as soon as the program re-opens.

We're passport holders, from the UK.
Maybe we'll hold off a bit longer than until a few things are made a bit clearer.
We haven't really looked at the working holiday visas, but I guess that could be something we can look into to see if it could work.
