hello, i really need help...i aaplied for visitor visa extension and it had been 24 days i tried to call CIC automatic phone number, but they didn't offer me the option of checking on my TRV extension...any help will be appreciated my flight is on September 6th..and i haven't heard from them yet..I'm just worried cuz if they didn't extend my stay I'm gonna end up buying a new ticket to leave...please help

The general rule is that as long as you applied prior to the expiration of your status document, you may remain in Canada legally until you receive a decision - even AFTER your original status document expires. This is known as "implied status".

If they haven't processed your request before you depart, you can withdraw you application and request a refund.

thank you for your reply...can I contact them and ask ?? :)

No. You just wait until you get your answer. It's not a great process, but it's all there is.

At the present time, CIC is claiming 66 days to start processing sponsored spousal applications submitted to Mississauga. So that would suggest you should get sponsor approval in mid-November at which point it will be transferred to the Paris office. Paris is a fast office, so it is likely you would have your COPR by the middle of next year, perhaps sooner.

okay, thanks a lot for your help..can I go home and come back here with the extension ??????? (of my visitor visa) my flight is on Sept 6th..can i leave and when my husband receives the answer that they extended my stay so i come back, I'm really confused and I have a lots of stupid thoughts at the moment ..Thank you :)

Technically, when you leave you cease to be a visitor anyway, so you're supposed to request a new visitor record when you come back into Canada. Just make sure you have all the relevant documentation (proof you've filed a PR application, sponsor approval letter if you have it, etc.) Basically the same things you would have submitted when requesting your extension.

would they let me get into the plan with the extension ?? I'm so sorry for going back and fourth am just trying to find a way to go visit home, knowing that I'm from a coutry that needs a visa

Ah. Sorry, I thought you just needed a visitor record.

If you need a VISA, then as long as it is granted to you before you need to return, you'll be fine (someone in Canada will need to forward it to you, of course).

No - you can't do this.

A single entry visa only allows you to enter Canada once. Extending a single entry visa allows you to stay in Canada longer. The extension does not allow you to leave Canada and then re-enter.

You will need a new visit visa to re-enter Canada.

:( that's what i was thinking...thank you for your reply, maybe i will get approved (the extension) and may this permanent residence takes few months so i could g home..i really wish i have applied for multiple entry :(
