I need an advise regarding LMIA

Hello guys,

I am about to finish my 3 yrs post study work permit. I'm in toronto and my wife also working in toronto. My work permit is about to expire in few months I found an employer who is having an LMIA in Alberta. My question is if I Take that LMIA i will get 600 points state-way or I have to wait until to get my closed work permit to update in Express entry profile.? If I move to Alberta my wife still can work in toronto or she will get Alberta limited work permit? me and my both have to apply for LMIA work pemrit as we still left with 9 months of post study work permit I'm planning to apply mine only can i do that?

Last one I heared there is something called PR based LMIA's what is that.

I think, if you get offered and decided to work with the employer in Alberta through LMIA, you are qualified for 600 points in EE. VO will ask for the proof or document when you are invited to apply.

As for work permit, i think it depends on if it is a open or closed (with a specific employer) one your wife currently has. If it is an open work permit, she is allowed to work anywhere in Canada with any employer.

Anyway, if you have accepted to go to Alberta with LMIA and EE has invited you to apply for PR, you can then apply for Bridging Open Work Permit with the EE acceptance letter.

You don't have to wait for the closed work permit. BUT - For it to be considered a "valid job offer," you need:
1. an LMIA in your name (if your employer has a pre-approved LMIA, s/he will need to submit your details to service canada and then get a new LMIA in your name - but as long as you meet the job requirements, it should be OK).

2. A written offer of PERMANENT, non-seasonal, full-time work from your employer.

The LMIA by itself does not make you eligible for the 600 pts...

She does not have to apply for the new SOWP right away, but should apply within 4 months of the expiry of your PGWP.

Employers can help employees obtain PR by getting an LMIA to support a permanent resident application. It does not cost anything, but you cannot get a work permit with it, and it requires all the same datails as to get the regular LMIA.

But any valid LMIA can be used to support PR applications; you would be able to use the same LMIA to appy for PR. But to be clear - you don't need an LMIA to apply for PR, but a "valid job offer" gets you 600 extra points and a sure invitation to apply.
