hi. I am a filipina with 2 kids left in Philippines. I am a landed immigrant. I was sponsored by my Canadian Husband. I didnt brought my kids with me because I want to have a stable job first before I take them with me. But now, I am ready to get them. I want to know if whom should I put as principal applicant on the application. And is it possible for me to sponsor them? Cause I was already filling out the forms but this question stopped me ... "In the five years preceding your application, did you become a permanent resident after being sponsored as a spouse, common law or conjugal partner?" and it says when i answer yes to this question, i wont be eligible to be a sponsor. can u pls help me. also my husband will be my co-signer. I hope you can help me. I arrived Canada July last year. Thank you so much! i miss my kids so much :(

That was a big wrong move to not include them with you before .. For what i know you cant sponsor anyone after just being sponsored.. You have to wait for 5 years .. Tsk tsk .. What you should do is ask if your sponsor can sponsor them if he can sponsor again and if he can sponsor them... But for you its written on the rules .. Should have tought of that before you had excluded them

Probably you can call cic for that and ask them.. Thats really painful .. Or seek for an immigration adviser.. Never seen a case like yours before .. Oh wait .. Hmm ask irisgirl sent her a message i think shes processing her daughters files but im not sure if you have the same case as hers

The 5 year part is only for sponsoring a new spouse.

Five-year Sponsorship Bar for persons who were sponsored to come to Canada as a spouse or partner

On March 2, 2012, changes to the eligibility requirements for sponsors came into force. These changes bar a previously-sponsored spouse or partner, from sponsoring a new spouse or partner within five years of becoming a permanent resident, even if the sponsor acquired citizenship during that period. Other members of the family class will not be affected by the regulatory changes.

Scenarios for previously sponsored spouses/partners

Date of Sponsorship Application

Eligibility to sponsor

Sponsorship application received prior to March 2, 2012 Not subject to the 5-year sponsorship bar regardless of the date on which the sponsor became a permanent resident
Sponsorship application received on or following March 2, 2012 Subject to the 5-year sponsorship bar

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/spouse-apply-who.asp

It's at the bottom.
