Hi,

I am Joy from Nigeria. A graduate of English Studies from a university in Nigeria, with GPA of 3.12. I recently applied for study Permit to Canada. I was refuse. purpose of visit
d Visa based on:

" you have not satisfied me that you would leave Canada at the end of your stay, in reaching this decision, i concidered several factors, including:
1. your travel history,
2. length of proposed stay in Canada
3. purpose of visit
4. current employment situation'
your personal assets and financial status.

Though i have come to realize that i didn't choose a right course, i got admission into The Art Institute of Vancouver to study diploma in Fashion Design, and it isn"t related to my undergraduate degree. But i am a little confused , they mention my employment status, and I didn't have personal assets, my dad happens to be my sponsor, he wrote a letter to state he was sponsoring me through out my stay in canada, he provided his bank statement, his personal assets and all certificates. concerning my employment status, i graduated 2012, did my NYSC from 2012-2013, imediatly i got out, i took up employment in my dads accounting firm as a secretary, there's no way i would have my personal assets.

I just need advise because, am about applying again, and this time i want to go for Professional Communication, and public relation. I want to know if its okay for me to choose that course since i have my BA in English, and also, if centennial college is okay for my choice of school.

I would appreciate your sincere advice. Thanks

I think your course choice this time around is better. You should write a strong SOP explaining why you want to study what you have chosen.
Since your father is sponsoring you, you should add proof of ties to your country to convince them of your return. Mayb houses, etc.

Indicate how long the study in Canada would take and how it will help you when you return home. And perhaps you can add your cv.

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Professional Communication is a better choice, regarding the authenticity of your visa application. Choosing a degree related with English studies/education would best partner with what you already have.

As already said, in your supporting documents explain WHY you are wanting to take this course - what relations does it have to your current education, how will it help support your career goals in your home country.

It's unfortunate they used your employment against you. Most students in or just out of education rarely get a job in what they studied for, at first or even at all for some people. Especially when you took English studies, you could actually apply that degree to almost any industry since many need translators/writers/anyone bilingual within their company. Perhaps explaining that that particular job was simply to increase your personal funds at the time until you were able to find a job for what you studied. I know on my own application I had several jobs listed that were simply to fund my way through university.

As for your proof of funds, having your dad sponsor your should be no deterrent at all for your application. I'd like to find anyone under the age of 25 who could 100% fund themselves to study abroad!!

Apply again, just be wary of how your application will seem to the officers reading them. Explain anything that seems out of the ordinary or sneaky to their eyes. It needs to make sense, it needs to look valid, you need proof that you can do it. Best of luck.

Thank you! I do appreciate your response.

Also, would I need to undergo another medical examination and police report for my new application., or could I still make use of the previous medicals i did?

Study permit refused HELP

I'm a 23 year old Nigerian living in Japan. I studied mechanical and aeronautical engineering in a Japanese university. Prior to this, I completed a pretty-college Japanese language course for 18months. After my graduation from the university, in order to keep myself busy before the fall session in Canada I applied and got accepted to the top university in Japan as a research student in my field.

Applied for study permit online after getting an admission letter to study aerospace engineering at Ryerson university on July 5th. Got a refusal letter on July 27th and the reasons were;

(1) You have not satisfied me that you would leave Canada at the end of your stay. In reaching this decision, I considered several factors, including:
*travel history- (since I left Nigeria I've never been to any other country till date)
*purpose of visit (to study, and it was clearly stated in my application)
*current employment situation (I've never been employed, in fact I refused a recommendation letter from my university because I wanted to do my masters in Canada after graduation)

(2) other reasons: you failed to provide information re: your activity and place of residence from 2008 to 2011, Japanese and Nigerian police certificates.

In 2008 I was in high school in nigeria, left for Japan in 2009 till date. Stated this in my résumé/CV.
It wasn't stated whether or not to provide the police reports in the checklist so I didn't attach it and I didn't attach the schedule 1 form either because I've never been to any other country except Japan. I think they just didn't give me enough information before submitting my application online.

It's already July 28th and My school resumes on September 1st. Should I reapply or get on with my life here in Japan?

Thank you in advance.
