the location and your wanted price don't seem to match, i assume in downtime you'd have to pay more than that for a 1 bedroom apartment

That area for $600 is hard. You'll have to settle for a basement apartment in an old house or rent a room in a shared house (common among university students - look for houses on Beverly).
