Hi there!

Just this week, after 7 days from my online application for visitor visa i recieved a refusal letter from the embassy.

I am a Filipina with a common law partner who is a canadian citizen who visits me every other month.just recently after he found out that its difficult for him to see me due to his work projects we decided that i will apply for visitor visa which i did but i got denied. I need now your ideas guys if how i could make it this time as i am planning to reapply.

From the letter i recieved they said they come up with the refusal due to following factors

1.) travel history (all i have is my chinese visa which i just recently got, same year month of may,1week but im allowd to stay in china for 14days)

2.) current employment situation
( i am a regular staff nurse in private tertiary hospital here in Phil: note that i am applying for 2months visitor visa to canada)

3.) personal assests and financial status ( i own an agricultural lot which i recently bought but failed to add in my application paper since i applied online and it requires only 4mb which is so limited for me to add some important papers)

Would it be okay if i reapply again after a week but this time i will ask a letter from my company that they approved my leave and this time I will shorten my stay to 2weeks instead and make sure to put it between the days where my common law partner will be celebrating his birthday. And this time i will apply personally in cebu and will include TOR and recent payslip of my partner since he stayted in the letter that he will shoulder my expenses once i get there. Plus any of you know how much money it requires in your bank to support 2weeks stay in canada?

Thank you in advance for taking time to read my concerns hope you guys could help me.

Hello,

Sorry to hear your refusal. I was denied too in my first attempt though it was my aunt who invited me last 2015. That time I had visited only Singapore, Istanbul Turkey & Hongkong. I re-applied again this year and luckily it was approved.. for me re-applying again after a week is not okay. They might think you are desperate to visit Canada. Travel first to other countries to build your history.

And when your ready to apply, provide the most important docs.. you can reduced the file if necessary. TOR is not required.

COE-from your Company
Bank statement/payslip-3 months at least (for you and your partner)
Provide detailed itinerary
Ticket reservation
Letter explaining why you will visit Canada
Travel Insurance

your bank at least should have more than 50k pesos.. if you have higher balance than that, would be okay.. but you should not deposit big amount one a time bcoz it is actually suspicious what if the source of this amount.

Goodluck...

For travel history CIC is looking for travel to countries such as the US and UK - so unfortunately your visa to China won't be of much help.

Generally speaking, it's much more difficult to get a visitor visa if you have a spouse / common law partner who is Canadian since CIC is concerned you aren't a genuine visitor but have plans on remaining in Canada long term. You can certainly apply again - however the chances of a refusal are quite high.

Assuming you have plans to move to Canada, your partner should focus on submitting a spousal sponsorship application.

@Jnes

Just to add to scylla's reply:
When you apply for spousal PR (through common law), you must be able to provide evidence that you have been in a common-law relationship for at least twelve continuous months.... and any time apart was only short/temporary

2.) current employment situation
( i am a regular staff nurse in private tertiary hospital here in Phil: note that i am applying for 2months visitor visa to canada)

I'll be blunt, the fact that you are a Filipino nurse was a major factor why you were denied (it really didn't help at all that you said you'd stay for two months), and the fact you have a Canadian partner pretty much killed it. It's not impossible to be approved under your circumstances, but it will be very, very, very, very difficult. Let this next TRV application be your last in a while, and you'd probably be better off focusing on spousal sponsorship like what scylla mentioned.

3.) personal assests and financial status ( i own an agricultural lot which i recently bought but failed to add in my application paper since i applied online and it requires only 4mb which is so limited for me to add some important papers)

Not including documents because you applied online is not a good excuse because there is software that can reduce file size...anyway, if you can't do it, then go ahead and apply by paper at VFS (be prepared to pay for additional fees though) and include your land documents.

Would it be okay if i reapply again after a week but this time i will ask a letter from my company that they approved my leave and this time I will shorten my stay to 2weeks instead and make sure to put it between the days where my common law partner will be celebrating his birthday. You should show at least CA$1000 per week of stay plus airfare in Canada.... So roughly it's best to show, at the very least, PhP 90,000-100,000.

Go ahead and include your partner's finances, but yours are still more important to show. You should show that you can support yourself, plus your ties in the Philippines.
