Hi friends,

I am approaching you guys with help regarding an issue Im facing, and I am sure someone will guide me on this.

I am facing an issue while creating canada express entry profile.

My name is Juno Mishel. I have no surname, and it is blank in my passport.

While creating express entry profile, it expects that i fill in both last name and given name-BOTH ARE MANDATORY.

I dont know what to do, please could someone guide, since Im stuck at this point and could not find relevant information anywhere.

Please let me know what I should fill in both my first name and last name fields?
I needed to create my profile soon, but unable to do so.. any help would be highly appreciayed

Thanks in advance!

you can legally change your name to First name: Juno , last name : Mishel .. and then get your passport updated .... Canada requires you to mandatorily have a last name

You can fill in your entire name in last name field and enter FNU (First name unavailable) in first name field. However, if you can, get your passport updated and split the name like mentioned above. It will save you a lot of hassle in future.

Thank you so much for information..
However, FNU would be valid? Do you Know anyone who has successfully got their application processed ths way? Sorry but asking just to avoid any issues later :)
yes I am also thinking of changing name, but its a lengthy process,so is it fine if now i put as FNU and later apply for name change?
Thanks again :)

Please refer to the FAQ from CIC website:

What do you mean by surname?
Your surname is your family name. It is sometimes called your “last name.” If your name is spelled differently on your official documents, please write your name as shown in your passport. When filling out applications, type your surname as it appears on your passport, travel or identity document or any letters you got from the visa office or case processing centre where you sent your application (even if the name is misspelled). Do not use initials.

If you do not have a family name on your passport, travel or identity document, enter all your given name(s) in the surname field and leave the given name field blank. Do not enter “*”, “Not applicable” or “NA”.
