In that case, what are my options? What should I do when my work permit expires?LPS said:No, it has to be 12 calendar months. "Work experience must be acquired over a period of at least one year; work in excess of 30 hours per week over a shorter period cannot compensate for any shorter overall period of experience" (OP 25a).
In other words, if you're calculating to 1,560 hours, you cannot count more than 30hr/week (30 x 52 = 1,560).
You can't extend your PGWP? It goes up to 3 years depending on duration of studies. How long was your duration of studies?CalC said:In that case, what are my options? What should I do when my work permit expires?
The duration of my course was one year.thisisauser said:You can't extend your PGWP? It goes up to 3 years depending on duration of studies. How long was your duration of studies?
Thank you for the reply. Now, I want to know; what should I do to stay in canada? I mean, what other options do I have?evanstp9 said:As previously stated, you cannot apply before the duration of 12 months, and that the least experience CIC recommends for applying through CEC, no matter how many hours you work per week (full time requires at least 30).
Of course you can always submit your application, but it most likely lead to rejection, one of the fundamental requirements they have will not have been met.
Most provinces have a master's stream for a provincial nominee program. You should look into the PM stream for your province and check if you are eligible. Apart from that LMIA is the only other option for you. Best of luck!CalC said:Thank you for the reply. Now, I want to know; what should I do to stay in canada? I mean, what other options do I have?
I think they still have to show evidence of trying to hire a Canadian person, ie. advertisement etc. This is an LMIA/LMO application requirement.CalC said:I have a question here.
I know that for LMIA/LMO the process should start 6 months before my PGOWP expires. Now the company that I am working for has already hired me .. should they have to show that they advertised, and interviewed etc when applying for LMIA/LMO or they can show that I have been working for them for all this while and I am good, what not... So, we wanna keep him... how is the process? Please help me here understand the rules as I want to be safe from misguidance by lawyers.
