Hello Guys,

Is it true that there is a lot of chances of refusal if you apply for a post graduation diploma/certificate after having a masters degree?

I finished my masters in international events in 2019 and since then have been working as a Marketing Manager.
I have applied for a one year Post graduation certificate in Canada and now I am really panicking because some people got refusals because they have done their masters and applied for a Post graduation certificate/diploma in Canada .

Please advice!

Correct. Having done a Master's increases chances of refusal as it can be seen as a illogical continuation of studies and more of a method to immigration.

I have already applied now. There is nothing i can do but just be positive!

Thanks for your input anyways!

Sorry if this sounds gloomy, it's not, just me giving you another pov, why dont you consider another adjacent masters to yours? Something that you can make a solid explanation for doing. Something that may make sense as a natural progression to your previous masters and job experience for the visa officer. In case,Lord forbid, in case the pg dip doesnt work out.

I applied after masters with study gap 5 years. After one refusal i got AIP. U don't have much study gap so its better to apply as soon as possible with strong SOP. If it's possible thn take a letter from current company showing that they may take u back in company after completion of course.

No one is saying you cannot get a visa, it is just harder to do so when you already have a Master's. Those who got it can count themselves fortunate to a certain extent

Hey Gary1207,

May I ask a question or two about your profile.
what was your Previous education and the Program that got visa approval ?

Thanks
