Hello everyone, Myself and my husband (who has already rec'd his PR card and we live in T.O) are currently in the process of sponsoring my step daughter in Jamaica. We got notification about a month ago that we were accecpted as her sponsors (took 3 months from time we sent in her file to get approved) and now her file has been sent off to Jamaica for processing. My question is approx how long does this part take before we hear anything? I was looking at the website and it said about 16 months which seems absurd to me. Our little angel lives in Kingston with my hubbys parents and she's really missing us and wanting to be here. I feel so bad for making her wait so long, she just turned 6 and has never had a stable home. I hate the fact that these files take so long to be processed, sad actually :(

I can't give you an actual time but sponsorship of children is normally much faster than sponsorship of a spouse assuming there are no issues with custody and/or a determination of parentage (DNA test) is not requested. Security checks are not required for children under 18 so hopefully it will go smoothly and quickly for you.

Rjessome-I hope so too. It took 5 years for my husbands PR card to finally come and it was a pure nightmare. I only hope it's not the same with my SD

CharlieD10- Awesome, thanks. Do you think I can repost my question there?
