The Visa Office,

Subject: - Application for Study Permit

Dear Sir/Madam,

Hello, my name is Dhruv Patel, and I am a 25-year-old aspirant digital media designer living in Mumbai with my parents and younger brother. I suffer from achondroplasia, a genetic condition that has required three operations (all the documents regarding surgery are attached) and has caused me to discontinue my studies for several years. Now that I've recovered completely, I'd like to pursue my studies in Canada to gain an advantage in the Indian industry and become a competitive media developer.

My academic and professional background is as follows:

In 2013, I completed my secondary education at St.Francis high school. After that, In 2015, I completed my higher secondary education in the science stream at St.Rocks college of science and commerce. In April and May 2015, I had two major surgeries due to a genetic disorder known as achondroplasia which causes shorter limbs than usual. I underwent surgery on both of my legs and was in a wheelchair for months before making a partial recovery. As a result, I had to delay my studies. While recovering from surgery, I had time to reflect on my career. I decided to pursue a profession as a competitive digital media developer since I've always been captivated by media and web design. In June of 2016, I underwent another surgery. My doctor advised me to avoid long-distance travel till I am fully recovered. As a result, in January 2017, I enrolled at a nearby institution called Arena Animation for a certification course in graphic design, video production, and 3D animation because it was a suitable option that suited my interests. As my arena animation course progressed, I learned how to use various design tools and have learned multiple 3D software. I entered a competition called creative minds, for which I made a short 3D animated clip from scratch. Following the completion of my training in February 2020, I began small freelancing work as a graphic designer and 3d modeling artist.

Why is Canada a suitable option for me?

While researching for interactive media development and web design programs in India, I discovered that the program's course had not been updated within several years, making it impossible for me to stay relevant to the current industry after completing the program. Furthermore, interactive media design programs in India do not teach gaming and visual effects applications. After looking for several destinations such as Australia, New Zealand, and the UK, I decided to go with Canada as it is one of the most prominent media hubs. There are approximately 87 media production studios in the country; hence, studying in Canada is the best option for me because it will expose me to the most recent technology used in a rapidly increasing sector, giving me the advantage to secure a better job in India.

Why this course and college?

As I have completed certification classes in 3D modeling, graphic design, and 3D animation, having merely technical skills is insufficient to develop a successful profession. To properly execute the interactive media project, it is necessary to understand how to establish and develop technical strategies. That is why I selected the interactive media design program. It will help me improve my technical knowledge; cover gaps in my knowledge base, and eliminates all shortcomings and inabilities that hinder my ability to pursue a successful profession. Another important reason to choose interactive media design is that most media development studios favour candidates who are conversant with the latest technology and tools. There are numerous vacancies at large studious in my home country for which I am ineligible to apply due to a lack of professional qualifications in interactive media design. I am choosing a diploma in interactive media design over any other degree because it teaches the practical and technical parts of the industry. Furthermore, diploma programs are more flexible and industry-relevant, giving you an advantage while seeking a job early on to get significant experience.

Seneca's size and diversity allow students to benefit from connections with industry leaders and cutting-edge computing technologies. In addition, Seneca College is one of the leading and sophisticated colleges in media and art; therefore, I opted to pursue my diploma in interactive media design there. Some of the program's courses at Seneca college, such as Interactive Media Tools, Campaign Development, and Strategy, are not taught in Indian colleges presently. Further, Seneca College's experienced Industry Professionals, such as Slavica Ceperkovic, who has over 20 years of experience leading complex media projects and teams and is also a Ph.D. candidate at York University, made my decision to attend Seneca College much easy.

Scope in the field?

Given India's substantial expansion in the visual effects, animation, and media industries, the Indian visual effects, animation, and media industry is expected to take up to 25% of the global market share. Due to this, the Indian government stated in its annual budget, which was released on February 1st, 2022, that it would promote and boost the visual effects, animation, and media industries on a global level. In addition, on average, 3.14 billion individuals spend 2.14 hours every day on social media consuming data, implying that content and web development will increase tremendously in the following years globally.

Career Goals?

In my professional career, I intend to climb to the position of media supervisor. Typically, it takes 10 to 15 years of solely technical abilities to become a media supervisor. With the help of this diploma program, I will be able to shorten my struggle, which is critical in my case because I have lost several years owing to recovery from surgeries. After completing the program, I plan to begin my career as a media developer at big studious such as Prime Focus Studios in India as a media developer who can also build technical methods to execute the project. After several years of hard work as a compositing artist, I hope to advance to the position of senior artist with the goal of becoming a media supervisor.

After several years of working as a media supervisor in the Indian media industry and gaining experience, I intend to grow & diversify my family's digital design and printing business into other domains.

Family ties:

I am deeply attached to my homeland. I stay with my parents and with my younger brother. In my culture, the older son is usually in charge of the family business. Thus, it is my responsibility to return to my home country and look after my family business after finishing my education in Canada. My family is an essential part of my life, and I want to spend as much time as possible with them. My parents are becoming older, and I want to be their support system, just as they have been mine since the day I was born, and have helped me in difficult times, such as when I was recovering from surgeries.

Financials:

My parents will fund my education in Canada. I have already paid Seneca College's one-year fees of 16,113 CAD in advance and purchased a GIC certificate to cover my expenses for that year. My parent sounds financially proper to support by education and paying next year's tuition will not be a burden. I will be able to focus on my studies without worrying about finances.
