Hi there. I don't know exactly what you mean. You say that you're already working in Canada as a skilled worker, so that means you already have a PR, no? Or perhaps you're working as a temporary worker? Ok, assuming you are working as a temporary worker, then you have to apply for the Federal Skilled Worker Program, or for a provincial program.

For the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the good news is that yes, you can apply with less than 67 points, but you should know that your chances of being accepted are very low.

however, the skilled worker program is currently undergoing some changes, so all new applications are put on hold. but you can send your application if you want to.

Here's what CIC says:

If your total score is equal to or greater than the pass mark... then:
You may qualify for immigration to Canada as a skilled worker. Read the rest of this guide to decide if you wish to apply under the Federal Skilled Worker Class.

If your total score is less than the pass mark... then:
You are not likely to qualify for immigration to Canada as a skilled worker. We recommend that you do not apply at this time;
However, you may apply if you believe there are other factors that would help you to become economically established in Canada. Send a detailed letter with your application explaining these factors. Include any documents that support your claim.

If you have been working in Canada for a couple of years now, and you have saved some money, and if your employer wants to keep you, there may be a chance you could be accepted. I suggest you call CIC (since you are already in Canada) and ask for details. Good luck!

If you are already in Canada for 2 years working on a temporary skilled permit, you don't need to apply under FSW. You can apply under CEC and no points required or you might qualify for PNP in your province.

It was quite a hasty answer. I understand we must be patient to reply. Its important both for readers as well as writers to read the first hand information provided by CIC site. An answer may become misleading and harmful for a person seeking help. All readers & writers should please not depend upon views of particupants on this forum, directives of Canadian government & guidelines provided by CIC must be read in addition to views offered on this forum.

Pass Mark

To qualify as a Skilled Worker, an applicant must receive a pass mark of 67 points based on the selection criteria. While it is generally difficult to qualify as a Skilled Worker with a score under 67, Canadian Immigration Visa Officers are authorized to use substituted evaluations if they believe that a score is not indicative of the applicant's ability to become economically established in Canada.

For further explaination please read the following;-

http://www.canadavisa.com/canadian-immigration-glossary.html#P

It would be wrong to suggest that the applicant cannot apply if he gets less than 67% ponints

Thanks so much for the replies.

Sorry for the confusion:

i came here as a temporary work permit holder and been working here for 18 months.

So i am in confused state..some say go ahead, some say re write the IELTS exam and apply.

At present i am thinking:

1) Apply for PR with all the DOCs with the IELTS score sheet and POINTS = 66.
2) Let it get processed.
3) Meanwhile give the IELTS exam once again, get more.
4) Send the Mark sheet with the refernece no.

Sounds..Okie...as i dont want to waste the time period for processing.

Please let me know whether i am right ?

Can any one give contact no : ( telephone no) of CIC as i tired 1-888-242-2100 and it give voice messages information details.

Thanks in advance
Hrithik

I don't think you should even bother to apply with 66 points. You will be denied. The CIC call centre starts off with a recorded message, you have to go through the first 2 menus and then press 0 to get a person.

Hi ,

I just spoke to CIC call centre and learnt that 67 is the marks we need to have.

Even the score is 66 or 65, they are not accepting.

Conclusion:

>= 67 is the MARKS we need to OBTAIN...to apply for PR (SKILLED WORKER)

Thanks guys..
