Hello Everyone,

As you already know, the express entry application only asks for "Month" and "Year" when entering work experience information.

In my case, I have 2 job entries in my profile as follows:

Job #1: From: June 2018
To: May 2019

Job #2: From: June 2019
To: Present

Therefore, today (May 1, 2020) the system rounded up my work experience as 2 years and gave me points based on that which increased my score from 448 to 473. Therefore, I received an invitation today with the cut-off score being 452.

However,

My actual employment dates for my jobs is as follows:

Job #1: From: June 18, 2018
To: May 17, 2019

Job #2: From: June 10, 2020
To: Present

Based on calculating my work experience based on this website (link below), my total experience is: 1 year, 9 months, and 22 days (As of May 1, 2020)

https://tools.knowledgewalls.com/online-work-experience-calculator

So technically, I don't have 2 years of experience.

In this case, should I decline my invitation and wait till I complete 2 years of experience which is going to be sometime in July 2020? Or should I apply anyway?

And if I decline the invitation and given that the draw score is going low these days, will this affect my chance of receiving future invitations?

Thank you very much for your help.

You can accept the ITA now. You have 90 days to submit the application. You can gather all the documents in the meantime and submit it when you cover your 2 yrs which I would say end of June.

Okay to accept. Just make sure that when you get your reference letter for job #2 that its dated after you complete the combined 2 years of canadian experience (job #1 and #2)

I have almost the same situation but little bit different than this. I have exactly 23M 26 days of experience whereas 21M 10 days under PGWP and 2M 16 days under Study permit. In my EE portal i stated that I have worked 2M 16 days under study permit and rest are under PGWP. Even though EE portal rounded it up 2 years and gave an ITA. Now, I am in dilemma should I accept it or wait for 3 more months?
Note: I worked under study permit while i was waiting for my defense.

This is what IRCC says about the minimum requirements for CEC:

  • have at least 1 year of skilled work experience in Canada, in the last 3 years before you apply, and the work experience must be:
    • full-time, or
    • an equal amount in part-time
  • have gained your work experience by working in Canada legally
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/eligibility/canadian-experience-class.html#minimum

So I think as long as your experience is within the last 3 years, you should be fine. However, don't quote me. That's just my understanding.

As far as I know, anything under study permit will not be counted toward CEC. As I got the ITA based on 2 years of Canadian experience but technically I don't have 2 years of experience. CEC calculate month to month not day to day. If I count month to month then it's 2 years but day to day it's 21 Month 16 days. However, I talked to IRCC and 3 different lawyers, all were suggested me to decline the ITA and I did that.
